Body image through handmade • There are many things I dislike about my body. New design. New challenges. New lessons. • Now that I have a finished design and notes, I realized the piece isn’t perfect and my notes aren’t complete enough. Well shucks. I definitely love this piece even with its couple flaws but still need better notes for a pattern. • I decided to make another but with some alterations. For me it’s pretty terrifying to design a garment so I thought why not make yourself do more work and include a few alterations! ➰Finding Balance➰ • A few posts back, I talked about the beginning of my journey to find more balance in life. It’s only been a short time but Last night during my Yin yoga class with @reneeberlucchiyoga we touched on it some more. While my mind was calm and clear, I was able to focus on my needs as well as reflect on my small successes. My practice inspired me to share some of my personal changes to find balance. • First, I wanted to make time for others. Ethan was my first victim lol Most nights we simply knit and play video games at home with a sports event on in the background. To get out of the house though, we decided to take a yoga class every Wednesday @syracuseyoga for date night! Outside of yoga with Ethan, I’m reaching out and planning with friends more. Working 30+ hours a week at the shop, running a business and @manic.makers, and having a social life isn’t easy. No one told me being an adult meant pencilling in friend dates but here we are. • Self-care is the second most important change I’ve made. Being some what of an introvert, it’s quite difficult for me to go out to events let alone go solo. More yoga to the rescue Though Lol at least one night a week I try to attend a class by myself or practice at home. • These changes are super important to me but also eating properly has affected me greatly. When I’m in a slump little healthy food gets eaten and most of the time I think I forget that water exists. It’s substituted for coffee usually. Cutting back on caffeine and focusing on healthy vegetarian meals has aided in my anxiety so much. Trust me it’s not salads and water everyday but it’s getting better! • Something that I remind myself of often is to focus on the things I can control. A positive mindset for example or stepping away from a negative situation. Whether it’s gaining confidence or seeing a lesson to be learned rather than a failure, a positive mindset has been the toughest to change. It’s been so beneficial though which motivates me to work on it more. • These are some changes that are working for me. Hello friends! • I thought it was time to do another introduction post! It seems like it’s been a while and this is a great reason to show off Rin’s gorgeous photography. Here’s a little bit about me, the maker behind KBD! -I’ve been knitting for almost 5 years now. Wow it’s odd realizing that! Time flies! - My other passion is coffee! I’m a barista at an amazing local coffee shop. Where I’m learning everyday. My experience in running my business and managing social media aided in becoming their Social Media Coordinator! For the first time in a long time, I’m extremely happy with my career path. -I was a field hockey goalie in college and miss it everyday. -I’m an aunt to three beautiful Nieces with a nephew on the way! (Extra fun fact: It will be the first boy on my moms side in three generations) -I try my best to eat vegetarian...damn sushi 🍣.... -did I say I love coffee? ➰Happy Sunday➰ • Today Ethan and I are doing a little (well more like a lot ha) spring cleaning!
