People ask me “How did you find the courage to put your name and face on your story?” The short answer is - it wasn’t courage. It was an act of desperation. I had spent 16 years wanting to die. Every day I woke up just wanting to die. And I thought maybe if I put my name and my face on this story - maybe the next morning after it ran would be the first day in 16 years that I woke up and didn’t want to die. That’s it. Desperation. I didn’t come forward to help anyone. I didn’t have any altruistic motives. I wasn’t trying to become a speaker or an advocate. I just wanted to feel better. And I’m happy to report the next morning after my story ran, I woke up and didn’t want to die. And I haven’t thought about killing myself for four years 🙌🏼🙌🏼 That demon is finally off my spirit.
