KRBK Summer Reading Challenge Returns

KRBK Summer Reading Challenge returns tomorrow June 1st and runs until Aug. 31st!

What is the Summer Reading Challenge?

It's time to dig out the fanfiction on your TBR and download the gameboard in this post. The goal is to read 250k words in KRBK fic by the end of summer. Fics from any site count (Twitter/Bluesky Thread fics, Tumblr posts, Wattpad, etc), though AO3 is generally easiest to keep track of since the word count is at the top. The challenge is entirely honor-system based. It is up to you, the reader to be faithful in completion.

Use the tag #KRBKSummerReading to track your progress and tell us what fics you've checked out from the Library of KiriBaku! Mark off the circles on the gameboard for every 10,000 words you read. The 250k can be a combination of fics. Read 100 or read 1, doesn't matter as long as it's 250,000 words.

When you're done, tag the account with your completed gameboard to earn a certificate for a job well done!

And if you're up for a challenge, we have a "hard mode" gameboard for 2.5 million words!! Your 250k counts towards the first tile and it's 100k for each tile after that.

KRBK Week Day One: Fruit

Eijirou sits in Bakugou's dorm room on his bed, watching his friend stare absentmindedly at the small television in his room. He's watching a documentary about cuttlefish and far more absorbed in the information than Eijirou thought he would be. At some point, he pulled out a bag of oranges they bought the day before, and begins peeling them. He's seated cross-legged on the floor, bag of oranges on the small coffee table located in the center of his room.

There's a special way to peel oranges where the whole rind comes off as one piece and it kind of looks like a flower. Eijirou has never been able to master it, but Bakugou peels the first orange effortlessly, handing it to Eijirou on his bed. The little orange blossom left on the table is cute, much like the owner of the room. Eijirou takes the freshly peeled orange, smiling fondly at Bakugou. "Thanks," he says.

"Don't make a mess on my bed." Bakugou chides, then returns to peeling his own orange.

Eijirou breaks the orange apart, popping one slice into his mouth and chewing slowly. He watches as Bakugou digs his neatly trimmed nails into the fruit's flesh, ripping the skin away. His fingers flex, the veins in his hands pop just below the surface, and orange juice trails down his slender wrist.

Eijirou's heart damn near stops as he watches Bakugou lick the orange juice trail off his arm. His throat feels dry despite the sweet liquid on his tongue. His thoughts wander somewhere shameless - the desire to lick Bakugou's wrist clean himself, heavy on his mind.

"What are you staring at?" demands Bakugou.

"Nothing," croaks Eijirou. He shoves the rest of the orange into his mouth in an attempt to buy time. As he swallows, he buries the thoughts from before in some deep recess of his mind. "The oranges are really good," he says.

Bakugou hums in affirmation, then returns to the cuttlefish documentary once more.

KRBK 20k Big Bang🖊️🖊️

The KRBK 20K Big Bang is a traditional big bang in which writers must create a new, unpublished fic with a minimum word count of 20,000 words.

This bang is designed to encourage long-form works of fiction like the original big bangs. Authors will be paired with artists and betas, and teams will post their completed works in November. All participants must be 18 years of age or older to sign up. All KRBKKR content is allowed and the bang practices a pro-ship/pro-fiction policy.

Writer signups will run from March 15th - April 5th.

Artist and Beta signups will be open from March 15th - Aug. 30th.
