Get a snack. Settle in. The story of Hannah Baker’s life isn’t easy to tell, but it’s as real as it gets. 13 Reasons Why is now streaming on Netflix.

So I finished watching 13 Reasons Why on Netflix almost 24 hours ago and it is still having a profound effect on me. It really makes me think twice about how you talk to people and how just one word or action can have such a profound effect. Hannah's story breaks my heart, it truly does. And what makes it so heartbreaking is that she's not the only one who feels this way. It makes me so incredibly sad to know that people feel like ending their life is the right decision. Even though she's surrounded by love, that love just isn't enough. The scene in which she actually commits suicide is still so etched in my head. It's so dark and so sad. That image of her dead in the bathtub is something that will stay in my head for a long time. It was incredibly hard for me to watch. I can't even begin to imagine or process how Hannah was feeling. Or how her parents felt finding their baby girl dead in their bathtub. This show has really lead the way for discussions to be started about suicide, depression and sexual assault and that is so important. This is truly one of the most amazing shows I've ever watched.

“After reading the script, Gene Wilder said he would make the film under one condition: that he would be allowed to somersault in the scene when he first meets the children. When asked why, Gene Wilder replied that having Willy Wonka start out limping and end up somersaulting would set the tone for that character. He wanted to portray him as someone whose actions were completely unpredictable. His request to somersault was granted.”  Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) dir. Mel Stuart
