I want to be something intangible, like Berck-Plage, a place Sylvia Plath described in her poem of the same name. Or perhaps the priest she described within the stanzas. Or the corpse she mentioned in the sixth part, a central motif to the piece, described so vividly yet abstract to the movie painted by the poet's voice.

I want to be how Plath chose her words. Did she recite each line out loud before settling on a word, or did she write globs of choices and peel them away to reveal a set of seeds that fit each other like puzzles in a box? What does it take for a person to turn into poetry? What does it take for an artist to stare at an artwork so hard they wish they never knew how to paint in the first place?

I wonder if this was how painters back then reviewed their peers' works, full of envy bubbling in their stomachs, seeping and crawling up their throats, only to cascade out of their mouths as bitter, cynical, educated criticisms. The shape of those words feels solid on paper, as if they were objective. But I learned, as I felt the poet's voice tickle my ear long before it was gone, that it is not education that prompts an artist to critique an art so full of feelings. It is envy.

Envy of the highest kind. The same one that turned gods against each other.

Oh, how great a poet must you be for a person to feel not the emotion you evoked—but divine jealousy.

My second comic for Ace Week!

obsessed with paris paloma's entire discography, but one that stood out to me was "last woman on earth" from the cacophony album.

I've heard so many takes on the 'man or bear' discourse, and this piece of art is my favorite response. it speaks of a woman whose dying wish is to finally be respected.

I've heard of so many cases where men have violated even the deceased. this song feels like an outcry from the daughters of those victims.

she says she'd rather be with the bears, be burned, or be scattered in the oceans—anything rather than be buried in a grave where men can still find her. she'll get tattoos so her body will be considered 'ruined,' because only then will they leave her alone.

she says if you love her, wait for her body to turn blue and decay, so she'll finally be undesirable again. so that even in death, her body is still hers.

this is rage. this is girlhood. give my girl paris paloma the audience she deserves.

Everyone forgets that Kaz and Inej are Friends to Lovers just because Kaz is a sassy edgelord. Inej was literally his right-hand woman and most trusted confidant, they’re proof that Friends to Lovers isn’t a “boring” trope when your characters are individually interesting while having a great dynamic even outside of romance.

The only enemies to lovers pairing in SoC are Helnik because Matthias was literally a witch hunter that tried to kill her at one point.

Jesper and Wylan were not friends at first or enemies but a secret third thing; Annoyances to Lovers, which is a very underrated and fun trope. Not all characters who bicker and banter are enemies/rivals, especially when they’re on the same side from the beginning. Hermione and Ron are another popular example of this.
