And honestly, Leonard Nimoy is such a fine damned actor, that he conveys that all in the first gif with the subtleties in his body language. The change in his focus, the hitch in his breath, the way his jaw clenches and the barely visible bob in his throat. It’s a masterful performance.

Spock comes back from Kolinahr prepared to prove he has mastered his emotional control, only to lose it all as soon as his eyes meet Jim’s.

Just in case you were wondering if Spock was as affected by the scene on the bridge as Jim, because: YES he was.

Hey shoutout to gif-makers! Often when I reblog gifsets I just scream about whatever scene they’re depicting in the tags where I would usually compliment a drawing or a fic. But a lot of artistry can go into capturing the gifs, adjusting their colors, arranging them the right way and ultimately presenting them to all of us, and we should totally recognize the work that goes into it! Gifsets are such a vital part of Tumblr fandom, and gif-makers do really great work!

star trek the original series is just a bunch of bad decisions held together by the three strands of sewing thread that are a desperate attempt at diversity and equality, awkwardly executed philosophy, and leonard nimoy (whose sense of identity is slowly becoming unwound by the day but will still take full advantage of his status as roddenberry’s #1 ho to exert his dominance over any writer or director with whom he does not agree)
