Also, I've decided on a name (AKA Mandy did all my research for me and suggested the perfect name from a poem so I stole it hehe)

I hope to have the first chapter of Gold Must Be Tried By Fire up sometime in the first or second week of May, but until now, here's a little excerpt from the first chapter :)

“First day of school!” Steve beams as Bucky walks out of the bedroom with his backpack slung over his shoulder. He does a bashful little twirl so Steve can get a 360 of his outfit– a graphic t-shirt and his new jeans. Very out of the box for Bucky. His arms are lined with bracelets, crystals and embroidery floss alike, to mask at least some of the pale scars littering his arms. “How’re you feeling?” he asks, kissing Bucky’s cheek before sitting back down to his toast and breakfast sausage.

“Nervous,” Bucky breathes shakily, bouncing in place a couple times before taking his seat. He gets a yogurt in addition to his toast and sausage. Hopefully Dr. Potts will lower his intake next time he sees her. No, you still need to gain weight, there’s no way she’s going to lower it yet. The only way to eat less is to make weight. “But, like… excited. It’s good nervous. Kinda feel like I’m gonna puke, though.”

“It’s syllabus day. Everyone’s new, nobody knows what they’re doing, you’ll be just fine.”

“But all those kids were in school, like, three months ago.”

“College is pretty different from high school anyway,” Steve shrugs. “I pinky promise, you’re capable of this.” In response, Bucky chews at his dry toast with a little frown, nose wiggling like a frustrated bunny rabbit. Steve chuckles a bit and smooths his thumb over Bucky’s scrunched brow. “You’ve done much harder things in life than a hundred-level American politics course. I know you, I know how smart you are. Just because some jackass told you you can’t do it doesn’t make it true. Just makes him more of a jackass.”

“What if they look at me and they’re all like, ew, what’s that old guy doing here?”

“You’re twenty,” Steve deadpans.

“Exactly. Old. Decrepit.”

“Alright, old man, eat your breakfast so I can walk you to class,” Steve rolls his eyes. “If you’re old, I’m geriatric.”

NEW CHAPTER OF RETROGRADE UP NOW

And made coffee every morning in a French press

She thought about how he said since she was so wise beyond her years

“How did you meet Steve?” his mother asks as they sit tandem on the couch.

Bucky tugs a pillow into his lap as he answers. “Steve was a regular at the café and we got to know each other pretty well. He drinks a lot of coffee.”

Steve just sweating on the other side of the couch like yup :D sure do!

i know it's my own story but thinking of steve walking out of that coffee shop with an iced coffee in the middle of november because he got so flustered he forgot how to order tea is just making me giggle. every time he drinks coffee in front of bucky he's just like desperately trying not to gag on it so he seems cool. he makes up stupid excuses to also order cider and hot chocolate because he hates actually having to drink the coffee. he's so funny my god. AND THE FACT THAT HIS DOCTOR TOLD HIM TO STOP DRINKING CAFFEINE this just gets funnier the longer i think about it.
