Sorry if this is a dumb question, just want to clarify: are we not allowed to write lawlight fics that take place around the start of the canon timeline or have scenes from that time, since Light is 17 at the start of the story and this would be breaking the no minor x adult rule?

canonical timeline is considered the one exception to that rule as its from the source material

Quick question just to be safe, do sex jokes count as nsfw or does there have to be like actual sex for the tag to be needed? Like for example if I were to draw L calling Light submissive and breedable or something lmao

i think that counts as sfw. especially since i've see a fair number of teenagers make those jokes. on ao3 id recommend using the "implied/referenced sex" tag just to be safe but for art i think you're okay not tagging that. people in the tags can argue otherwise tho

Hi there! I was wondering if we’re allowed to shuffle around the dates of the prompts a lil bit? As in, do first meeting July 13 instead of 15. I’m intending to write a fic but it would flow a lot better if I could rearrange the order of the prompts.

You can rearrange! I just ask you don’t release the first part until its official day. Ie, if you’re starting with First Meeting, you wait until July 15 to release the first part. Late submissions are accepted, but early ones are not.

Hello! Thank you for clarity on the rules on proship content! I am personally super uncomfy with those topics in fan fictions so I wasn’t sure about participating originally. I’m glad someone said something. I also wanted to ask if there are any new tagging rules?

I updated the pinned post to match, but there are no new tagging rules! I would like to clarify the existing one again, though. Basically, if what you are posting contains cannibalism tag it as cannibalism. if it contains medical kink tag it as medical kink and etc.

the only exception is death-- this is lawlight. its probably happening. it's a decent curtsey to tag it on ao3, but i understand withholding a major character death tag for sake of keeping plot a surprise. reminder the "chose not to use archive warnings" tag exists for such moments

you do not need to tag anything as "proship" because proship is extremely hard to define outside a select few things, so i figure this is likely the best solution.

what counts as pro ship content?

It has come to my attention that more people would be uncomfortable sharing works in a collection/tag with ship content involving incest, minor x minor NSFW, or any sort of adult x minor content (NSFW or not). In order to keep this week as open to as wide a fanbase as possible, I have determined it best to set these three restrictions.

I formally apologize to anyone who is planning, or currently in the process of creating works involving any of these things. I understand the time and effort required to create fan content, and to have it be denied after you put the effort in cannot be a good feeling. However, this limit is not changing.

Asides from that, generally you should be okay as long as you are tagging your works accurately so people looking to avoid specific topics or whatnot can do so for their safety/enjoyment.

Also this is not in relation to your ask, but I figured now was a good time to mention that Lawlight Week is 100% against works created with generative ai and any user found using it will not be allowed to feature any works in either the account, ao3 collection, and discord server.

basically, each day has an option of two prompts. so, say you’re looking at july 13. the prompts there are “soulmates” and “doomed pair”. so you can make something based off of that prompt (or both! sometimes people combine them) and then post that day.

make sure when you post you’re using the designated tag so this account can reblog your work!
