It was quiet, aside from the occasional scribbles of charcoal against rough paper. The ambience of the forest, leaves whispering and the distant songs of birds, dipped you in this moment.

Bright glowing pasture in the sun, almost blindingly. Luckily, the foliage of the tree casts a wonderful shade for you both, with only small glimpses of sunshine between its branches.

Sighing, you lean back on the bark, eyes lazily watching Sai work away at his equations.

His brows are furrowed, concentrated. Hands are moving swiftly from number to number. With a bored expression, you lean over from behind, resting your chin on his shoulder. This makes him pause, and he glances at you.

"Uh, yes?" Sai looks at you curiously. You point at the paper. "What's this for?"

"Ah," he taps it with the charcoal. "Just some, y'know. Math."

You hum. It's filled, scribbled with numbers, words and symbols. Curious, but not enough to ache your head to figure it out. Arms snake around his waist, ignoring the way he jolts in surprise.

"[name]?" he stutters out, face tinting pink as his eyes widen.

"And what kinda math is it?" your gaze remains on the work, demeanor unfazed. Sai flushes at this, embarrassed. Were you doing this on purpose? Was he just overreacting?? He snaps out of it.

"It's- trigonometry, er, something." The man clears his throat, trying to remember what he was doing. Hands go back to scribbling on the paper once more, trying to rid the heat on his cheeks. It's a struggle, though, when you're this close to him.

"Impressive," you murmur, eyes glazing over it. "You're pretty impressive, Sai."

His face goes even more red, not responding in an attempt to ignore you. Of course, you quirk the corner of your lips, feeling cheeky. You shift, and whisper near his ear. "Sai, I said-"

At this point, he just drops the charcoal and his face erupts into a vivid scarlet. "Okay, okay, I get it!" he squeaks, hand reflexively covering his ear. You laugh, pulling away.

"Whaatt, Sai? I was just saying." You drawl, nudging him playfully. He gives you a weak glare.

"You knew what you were doing, damnit." Sai mumbles, rubbing his ear. "I could see you smiling."

"You weren't gonna combust, were you, Sai?" You jest, and he huffs, taking his hand off. "No. But I nearly had a heart attack," he pouts, and you chuckle, smiling apologetically. "Alright, alright. I'll warn you next time."

With that, you slip your hand into his, squeezing it reassuringly. "Now, I promise I won't tease you anymore." You shift from behind him, to his side. At your smile, he calms down a bit, blush dying down.

He huffs, and with an appreciative glance, picks up the charcoal once more. You give one last glance, gaze affectionate. Finally, you relax, closing your eyes and leaning against his shoulder.

It was peaceful again. This time, you let yourself bask in the moment, enjoying the warmth of your interlocked hands.

hi, I saw you were taking requests and so, how about senku, gen, hyoga and ryusui (dr. stone) with a reader who's usually on her own world, gets distracted easily and is really helpful and nice to everyone, one day they're talking and suddenly the conversation moves to how the human brain works and reader starts talking about chemical components and processes of the brain (turns out she's into neuroscience), how would the boys would react to it?

it can be platonic or romantic, it doesn't have to be all of them, you could make it separate reactions or all of them reacting as a group, however you like best ^^

Pleasantly surprised. Who knew someone as usually airheaded as you was actually quite well versed in a field of science? You've peaked his interest.

Would enthuse with you about it. Maybe even be willing to pipe in now and then with his own knowledge.

Likes to listen to you ramble while he works. Not just because you absentmindedly work faster while talking (you usually can't even do a long task without your attention getting grabbed elsewhere).

Actually even learns from you a little.

Finds it a little funny considering how you're always off, either out assisting or daydreaming. You're all whimsy and chill until the moment someone mentions anything about nerves or the brain.

Likes the fact that you're similar to him in a way that you both are willing to part your knowledge to others. Whenever someone asks, or doesn't understand, you happily break it down for them. This gives you a raise in his eyes.

At least now, he knows where to go if at some point the power of neuroscience is needed.

Surprised, and sweating. He just mentioned that Kaseki has some really good hand-eye coordination. Suddenly, you were talking about how signals travel through spine.

It's an interesting fact. Like a nice trivia. Little miss daydreamer has hidden stock knowledge about the nervous system enough to make her a definite neurologist in this primitive era. Luckily, there was no need to test that statement. And hopefully never any.

He does learn bits and facts from you. Although that's only sometimes because most of the time he's just wondering what the hell is a Broca's area.

But, as it's so rare to see this passionate side of you, he humors it.

Kind of observes you, you know. Nods along while you ramble, even taking advantage of it. Just hands you whatever work he was doing and you take it, too immersed in explaining to him how impulses travel through synapse.

"Is that so? That's pretty complex." he makes a thoughtful expression, putting the golden wire he was twisting into your hands. This spurs you to expound on the topic, not noticing how he's not even doing anything anymore aside from clasping his hands together and sitting back.

Just stands there silently. He's a good listener, yes, but when it comes to topics he doesn't know ass about, expect no feedback.

Most likely if you catch him at his free time, nothing on his mind, maybe he might? But it would be moreso comments about you.

Hyoga is a man all about efficiency. Quick trips, and doesn't really sit down a lot. So, he didn't really notice you that much at first.

This is one way to at least catch his attention though. Though you are now dubbed 'brain girl' in his mind.

Extravagant, bold. Two definitive terms that quite describe the heir of the Nanami conglomerate. He wasn't Ryusui without that, was he?

He does not shy away from stating what he wants, nor does he wither from encouraging anyone from doing the same. A person who knows himself. Direct, precise.

Yet, he somehow starts to doubt those very same facts the moment when it comes to you.

With how much Ryusui talked about desire more than the average person, it was easy to get used to how he worded his wants and his passionate pursuit of it. In fact, you nearly choked when he yelled out what you thought was a confession.

"I desire you!" was what he said, leaving you to awkwardly stand with your hand out to shake his. Luckily, this misunderstanding was quickly cleared, and your hesitance faded out the more time you've grown used to his presence.

And so, it seemed that same desensitization was like a curse for him.

As you were part of the power team, he always made sure to meet with you at the end of the day. Walking with you from the field back to where the others were.

"[name]! Great work today! Any plans for tonight?"

"Mhm! I have to go help out Kaseki. He asked me and Kohaku to help him out in carrying some woodworks after dinner."

Then, the time where you were both on the ship. As you both stood out on the deck, overlooking the sea.

"You know, [name], this view is even more beautiful, now that the person I desire most, is right here with me."

"Haha! I just saw a turtle!"

It was frustrating, but also gave a thrill, to which he didn't mind playing along with. The pursuit of passion, how far would he go, for this? Finally, one a little bolder, when the perfect opportunity comes as you're both one of the last ones by the dining.

Here, you both sit across from each other. The sound of the sea outside are faint, and gives the perfect ambience to the silence.

Swirling the wine in his glass, he takes a small sip. "When it comes to desire, I believe that there is nothing that should be worth stopping you from obtaining it."

You nod along, just as tipsy. The wine in your glass sways along. "So true, king."

He rests his elbow on the table, leaning on his fist. His other hand holding the wine glass, points at you. "Your ignorance may know no bounds, but so does my desire. And I'll let you know, that I've never denied myself of anything I've truly longed for."

Groggily, you nod. "You said a lot of fancy words, but whatever you say, king."

Ryusui watches you blink in a daze. Yeah. He's no quitter. Downing the rest of his glass, he decides to just go for it.

"[name], I desire your heart. I desire you." he goes quiet after this, staring intently. His expression is unreadable, and you would tell if you weren't still a little tipsy.

"I'm afraid I still need it, sorry." Your eyes get droopy, and you put your glass on the table. "Not... not a registered donor." you mumble.

Ryusui sighs, putting down his own glass. Nevermind. "I think it's best you go to bed now." Grabbing your arm, he throws it over your shoulder, hauling you up. Drowsily, you only nod. "Yessir.."

Luckily, you weren't that far gone, and could walk properly. So, it was no problem getting you to your room. But before he could leave you by the doorway, you suddenly reach out, surprising him.

"Hey, Ryu." you mutter, leaning on the door. He looks at you curiously, listening. "Yes?"

"I like you." you sway your head, a little sleepy. "It's fun every time I'm with you."

Ryusui stills for a moment. You yawn, letting go of him. "Well, g'night, Ryu." is the last thing you say before entering, closing the door behind you.

A beat, and one more, before, a tint of pink dusts his cheeks.

It wasn't much, but it was progress. He went straight to bed after that, eyes curving with a little more mirth that night.
