Full moon alert! Simultaneously a full moon, blue moon, and a super moon... the rare Super Blue Moon.

Peaking on Monday afternoon, according to NASA, at 2:26 p.m. EDT and 11:26 a.m. PT. It will appear for three days, from Sunday morning until early Wednesday morning.

What is this moon?

The Full Moon appears fully illuminated to those on Earth looking at it (due to it’s alignment with the Earth and the Sun). The full moon in August is named after North America’s largest fish, the sturgeon. Other names for this full moon include Grain Moon, Corn Moon, Lynx Moon, and Lightning Moon.

A blue moon is not about the color of the moon, but instead the frequency of the full moon. There are two definitions of a blue moon—the first describes when there are two full moons in a single month. There are also seasonal blue moons, the blue moon is the third of the four full moons. August’s full moon is this. The next seasonal blue moon is expected in May 2027.

The super moon part refers to the moon’s orbit, which brings it slightly closer to Earth this month, making it appear bigger and brighter.

Ever wonder what happened to all the Legions the Empire had scattered throughout the galaxy after Return of the Jedi? And who may have their stuff now? 

If so, welcome to Lost Legions which explores this. This is FAN ART. My own private dreamtime alternate reality where I am working alongside Marvel and Lucasfilm. Conceptual. Kind of a pitch too I guess... what do you say Marvel?

The first arc of Lost Legions would be written by the great Rick Remender (of Black Science, Seven to Eternity, Tokyo Ghost, Deadly Class, and The Last Days of American Crime fame��among others (if he writes it, I read it!)).

And since I'm dreaming, the series was picked up by Netflix (or Disney/Marvel's soon to be launched channel) and adapted to an animated series where each episode is illustrated/directed by a different artist... and the lineup for the first season includes Peter Chung (of Aeon Flux), Eric Canete, Matteo Scalera, Kaare Kyle Andrews, Robert Valley, David Wilson, James Cornette, Andrew Wayshak, Ashley Wood, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Frank Miller to start.
