The walls are covered in paintings of a single place. They wrap around the whole space, like one long artwork. A panorama of the location the painter must miss so much. A panorama of what must be their home.

And Sonic recognizes that place in the paintings. The greens are faded, the shapes difficult to make out with only the light Tails holds, the odd patterned earth hard to make out against the cave rock. But Sonic recognizes it clear as day.

It's the place from his dreams. The place he's never seen before. The place that might be his home.

Sonic and his team discover an old cavern after a fight with Dr. Eggman causes the ground to collapse beneath their feet. It holds the history of someone possibly long gone, and the walls are painted with their past.

Sonic doesn't know what to think when everything feels familiar to him. Feels like he belongs there.

This just might be the sign he's been waiting for. He's just not quite sure yet.

It took 36 hours to make this, 30 of which was just for the lineart alone 😭

I'm both looking forward to and dreading making the next volume covers. I can already tell each one is going to take just as much time if not more 💀💀💀

Aidairo artstyle study #1 ft. Akane Aoi

Aidairo artstyle - faces

Aidairo draws faces particularly roundish, and leans in heavily into a strange combo of anatomically correct and cat face theory.

The eyes are always large, and rounded as well. They're veryd etailed up close, and have a more sketchy style to them. The lower lid is always a simple single line, very small. It follows a short line down to the nose, following the curve of the cheek in profile view.

The pupil is rarely a solid black, usually its sketched or a simple circle in wider frames.

Both male and female characters have thicker lashes near the outer corners of their eyes. Their eyelashes tend to be simplified and a bit boxy in shape.

The jawline is typically short, and is rounded with a little sharpness.

The nose is a small dot in front views, and short but sharp in profile views.

The front of the face follows a distinct curve in profile view, and is made up of mostly swooping and straight curves.

The mouth is relatively simple, mostly rounded. If teeth are showing, there is thicker line work to suggest the straight edges of the teeth.

The ears sit right above the curve of the jaw, and are detailed as well. They tend to be a bit large for typical proportions of people's ears as far as manga go, but its done rather tastefully.

The eyebrows are rather simple, usually curves. In some panels, the eyebrows are outlined.

The connection between jaw and neck is relatively short. Its a simple straight, rather easier to figure out. The neck itself is not very thick, and is rather thin compared to the head in front view. In profile view, it fits very well since the head isnt very thick.

Blush is done with straight lines going down, not very neat and sparingly, right below the lower eyelids.

Another at a whim OC i drew with not a single bit of rough sketching. The legs are lil wonk but it actually turned out nicely.

The color of the lineart and pastels reminds me of something but i cant put my finger on it.
