For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in. I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums.
Some fun facts about today’s news: I learned about Scooter Braun’s purchase of my masters as it was announced to the world. All I could think about was the incessant, manipulative bullying I’ve received at his hands for years.
Like when Kim Kardashian orchestrated an illegally recorded snippet of a phone call to be leaked and then Scooter got his two clients together to bully me online about it. (See photo) Or when his client, Kanye West, organized a revenge porn music video which strips my body naked. Now Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy. Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.
This is my worst case scenario. This is what happens when you sign a deal at fifteen to someone for whom the term ‘loyalty’ is clearly just a contractual concept. And when that man says ‘Music has value’, he means its value is beholden to men who had no part in creating it.
When I left my masters in Scott’s hands, I made peace with the fact that eventually he would sell them. Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words ‘Scooter Braun’ escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn’t want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever.
Thankfully, I am now signed to a label that believes I should own anything I create. Thankfully, I left my past in Scott’s hands and not my future. And hopefully, young artists or kids with musical dreams will read this and learn about how to better protect themselves in a negotiation. You deserve to own the art you make.
I will always be proud of my past work. But for a healthier option, Lover will be out August 23.
Sad and grossed out,
💔
Taylor

You know, you’re staked to this land same as me. You never had a choice. What do you mean? It wasn’t Black Badge who saved you from the Cult of Bulshar massacre, Nicole. It was an idealistic, local cop.

She found Elizabeth fascinating right from the start, and you can’t tell me she didn’t take up the assistant position because she’d be working along side Mrs. Elizabeth Marston

‘Professor Marston and The Wonder Women’. What a brilliant film, a masterpiece. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I recommend you watch it right away. It’s directed by Black lesbian Director Angela Robinson.
It’s based on the true story of the two women who inspired the creation of Wonder Woman (Olive Burn and Elizabeth Marston) and the man who created her (William Marston). They are all lovers in a genuine polyamorous relationship but the relationship between the two women are explored more, it’s also clear that Olive loves Elizabeth more than she does Professor Marston. The film is engaging, interesting, has a lot of representation, has a lot of unexpected moments, a lot of themes, and it’s absolutely beautiful. The acting is amazing, the way this true story is told is amazing. It was eye and mind opening. I can’t stop thinking about this film. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you haven’t see this film yet. The most underrated film of 2017 in my opinion. Oh and spoiler alert, they live happily ever after, then later the two women live happily ever after.
You will especially love this film if you’re a fan of Wonder Woman, if you love women and love women who love women (if you ship F/F ships watch this film). These people were truly ahead of their time. I can’t believe how wonderful this film is and I’m saddened that it’s not getting the attention it deserves. It’s even better because it’s a true story.
YOU GUYS REMEMBER WONDER WOMAN RIGHT?
WELL GUESS WHAT ELSE GOT RELEASED LAST YEAR THAT I WASN’T TOLD ABOUT UNTIL I DISCOVERED IT JUST NOW

A FUCKING WHOLE MOVIE ABOUT THE CREATOR OF WONDER WOMAN, PROFESSOR WILLIAM MARSTON ALONG WITH HIS TWO (TWO!!!) LOVERS ELIZABETH MARSTON (WIFE) AND OLIVE BYRNE (MISTRESS)
BARE IN MIND THIS WAS WAY BEFORE BISEXUALITY (SEEN AS LESBIANISM BACK THEN THOUGH) AND POLYAMORY WERE EVEN DEEMED LEGAL IN AMERICA, LET ALONE APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
AS A PANSEXUAL POLYAMOROUS PERSON YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW SHOCKED AND HOW PHENOMENAL THIS IS TO ME, THE ENTIRE MOVIE WAS BEAUTIFUL AND I FELT SO MUCH REPRESENTATION DESPITE THIS BEING SET AROUND 80~ YEARS BEFORE I WAS EVEN BORN
ALTHOUGH THE MOVIE DID DWELL A LOT ON THE SEXUAL SIDES TO THEIR RELATIONSHIP (they were pretty fuckin kinky ngl) IT EXPLAINS A LOT ABOUT WONDER WOMAN’S CHARACTER AND WHAT SHE STANDS FOR (FEMINISM Y'ALL!)
IT EVEN SPENDS EQUAL FOCUS ON WILLIAM AS IT DOES ELIZABETH & OLIVE, SHOWING ELIZABETH’S BRILLIANCE AND STRENGTH IN A SOCIETY DOMINATED BY MEN (WITH WILLIAM KNOWING FULLY WELL HER ABILITIES AND RESPECTING HER FOR THAT WHILE ALSO LOVING HER), AND HOW OLIVE INITIALLY GAVE INSPIRATION FOR THE MODEL OF WONDER WOMAN AND HOW SHE BROUGHT NEW LOVE AND HAPPINESS TO THE TRIPLE DESPITE PUBLIC CRITICISMS AND DIFFICULTIES THROWN THEIR WAY FOR CHOOSING TO LOVE TOGETHER
AND THE BEST PART IS, IT’S ALL BASED ON A TRUE STORY
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
