I am on that post-conference high that means you made the right decision to leave work at a crazy time to attend a 3-day library conference.

It's 50 years since King gave that speech. Gary Younge finds out how it made history (and how it nearly fell flat)
Well before this day became a national holiday [1986], I knew that Dr. King and I share a birthday. As well, I was born the year he delivered his seminal speech.
This perspective is offered by Gary Younge, in The Speech: The Story behind Martin Luther King's Dream. I'm adding it to my book list.
Better yet, I just put in an ILL request.

I don’t actually look for inspiration. I look for ways to recoup the joy of writing when that joy is lost to me. Whenever I find myself stuck or just without any ideas, it’s because I seem to have forgotten how incredibly fun it is to mess around with words. So to remind myself, I read. But not just anything. I have to read fiction that is exuberant—not in content but style. Writers who howl on the page so loudly, you can hear them for miles. Barry Hannah and Nabokov, Flannery O’Connor and Angela Carter. Jose Saramago and Denis Johnson. Cormac McCarthy. Faulkner. Joy Williams. Annie Proulx and Nicholson Baker. Writers whose work feels alive and fresh and a little nuts, so that before long, I'll start to feel more alive, too. Alive to possibility, which is generally when I start typing.

Good luck!! It's the best job in the world.
I have been on the other side of those phone calls. Be yourself! Be engaged. Humor puts both sides at ease. We want you to succeed as much as you do!! Rooting for you :)
Eek.
I have a phone interview on Wednesday for a position at an academic library! So far preparation has consisted of frantic note-taking, obsessive research, and walking around the house interviewing myself.
So. Yeah. Coping well.

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.
