fuck me for thinking we were past this kind of behaviour as a fandom

So it looks like sour-apple-studios is stepping back from creating. Bullying a real human being over 'problematic' depictions of (not real!) characters... in an AU about murder and torture and cannibalism. Makes sense!!!

I've been in this fandom for a decade. It's absolutely fine to dislike a ship. It's absolutely fine to dislike a person because they ship something you don't like. Block whoever you like! Block wherever you like! Your future is yours to command.

But - and it's a big butt - issues always arise when you start to demand for the outright banning of certain subjects/depictions. It's a slippery slope toward right-wing thinking. Do you know who also outright bans the depictions of things they don't like, for the sake of 'protecting' certain groups? It's not the good guys.

Banning difficult subjects is EXTREMELY hard to do delicately. It's common knowledge that people who've experienced a lot of distress often find peace in creating disturbing art. When you ban people from creating around certain subjects, you inevitably accidentally target those who are most vulnerable.

I'm not a proshipper. But I'm also not an anti, either. Because I find it really weird and reductive to boil everyone down to 2 super strict boxes. I believe that, whether or not I like it or understand it, people should be free to create whatever they want.

Who decides what is and isn't 'bad'? Who decides what is and isn't 'allowed'? I don't know what's going on in someone's head. I'm not morally infallible. I'm not the arbiter of all that is/isn't 'good' in the world. And clearly, if you're bullying a real human being over fictional characters, neither are you.

I can understand that pissed you off to be called a pedo, etc. But not all the Antis are for the harassment. Like even if I'm an Anti (I hate to see chil/adult relationship), I'm not gonna harassing someone. I just don't look or don't read. I can block tags too

I think a lot of people think like me : "Don't like, don't look/read." And that's just sad that it is the people who don't respect that that makes the most noise

That is the very definition of being proship. Don’t like don’t read, doesn’t attack people, block content you’re uncomfortable with and curate your feed.

That IS proship. You aren’t an anti JUST because you’re uncomfortable with certain ships, you’re allowed to be uncomfortable with anything you wanna be. But since you block and curate your feed, you are by definition proship.

I'm not the most computer-literate person out there, and a lot of the terms used nowadays I don't understand. But I'm a believer in respecting each other, and if you don't like something, just block it; you don't have to read it.

I’ve been summoned like the proship utmv batman. Most, if not all, of your favorite things were created by proshippers. Proship does not equal pro-pedophila, pro-incest or being pro-dark fiction.

Proship means being pro-fiction. It means knowing how to separate fiction from reality, and curating your experience on the internet. Proshippers are against harassment over fiction.

Your moral guilt over clinking dolls together is not anyone’s problem but your own. Your cries of disgust and dismay are performative and annoying. No one cares.

Btw try not to pay mind to the people being annoying. Block liberally. Don’t pick fights. Most of them are losers on summer vacation with too much time on their hands. The internet is going to be extra annoying for the next three months.

I'm an Undertale fan, who fell into this wonderful crazy multiverse of a fandom through Youtude comic duds. I learned so much about myself and the world around me from it. I love this fandom so much that for the first time ever I wanted to share one of my own stories with people as a thank-you to everyone. So to see Jakei the amazing creator of Underverse,(a series I've followed and loved from the very beginning) driven so far into a mental corner that they are thinking of abandoning their story and the fandom because of cyberbullying, it just hurts.
