so you want to write a filipino muse: a basic guide, from an actual filipino.

hello. i’m thia, nineteen. i’m of fully filipino heritage and lived in the philippines from birth until i was seventeen, so you could say i know a shit ton about being filipino. our very first lesson is that the philippines has MORE THAN TWO THOUSAND inhabited islands and MORE THAN A HUNDRED native languages still alive today; so this guide will not be all-encompassing by any means, but i hope it’ll give those of you who are uninformed a grasp on the basics of the filipino identity.

this post is tailored for tumblr’s roleplay community, but can be taken as a general writing guide. keep in mind that i, the writer, belong to the BISAYA ethnolinguistic group. as such, there will be a slant towards bisaya people and culture. filipinos are not a monolith. (it would be great if people realized that, too.) i hope you take time to actually read and use this, because i spent so much time on this, lol. even has citations and shit!
