But I feel like it wouldn't explain how Jack is a witness. They make it seem like a hereditary condition (kinda like being a mesmerist), and I think it was implied that the elders wouldn't pick two unit members with the same knack. So maybe his other parent was one?

If this is true it would explain Jacks dislike/distrust of the society, especially if his parent died during one of their missions.

Overall great headcanon I love the implications ;>

Chapter 18 - An Almost Jolly Holiday

Okay mildly insane thought: what if jacks parents are (now deceased) wunsoc members from jupiters unit? Jupiter doesn’t bring up having any siblings from what I remember but he makes a strong point of your unit being your family. Him and Jack aren’t really similar looking at all (though that doesn’t mean they’re not related obviously) so maybe Jack is the child of one of jupiters unit members who unfortunately died, and Jupiter takes care of him and views him as a nephew because of the whole “brothers and sisters for life” thing

or I could be completely wrong and this is explained later and I just forgot though ;-;
