CYRUS

(aka Sorrow)

Role: Dark Side - Embodiment of Sorrow, Grief, and Despair

Appearance & Feel:

Cyrus is a tall, somber figure. He wears a black turtleneck under a faded blue over-shirt, along with a pair of light, thin-framed glasses. His brown hair is tidy, yet falls into his eyes, which are also a soft brown, usually shining with tears.

When Cyrus is around, the temperature seems to dip. A heavy stillness fills the air and Thomas may feel a sudden, unexplained sadness, become teary for no reason or begin recalling old griefs.

Personality:

Cyrus is a quiet, introspective, and withdrawn side. He speaks in a soft, calm voice that often trails into mournful silences. As the embodiment of sorrow, he bares a heavy emotional load, constantly holding suppressed grief and pain that gets pushed aside by the constant distractions. This manifests as frequent crying or spiralling into melancholic reflections.

Despite what he represents, Cyrus is not malicious. He resents his title as a "Dark Side" and resigns to his role only due to his connection with Remus and Janus. He values the bonds he has, almost to the point of dependency.

Mindscape Domain

Cyrus's room in located in a dimly-lit, secluded corner of the mindscape. The walls seem to hum with old memories and lost relationships, causing anyone who enters to be hit with a sudden wave of sorrow. It's a place few sides have entered but it's where Cyrus feels the safest.

Relationships

Patton

Cyrus is Patton's brother, although Patton keeps this hidden out of guilt or fear. Patton used to embrace Cyrus's role in emotional processing but now tries to ignore him and forget he exists, believing suppressing him will help protect Thomas, using his "fake it till you make it" message again.

Virgil

Virgil remembers Cyrus from his time with the dark sides, the two having a silent respect for each other, although he now tries to ignore Cyrus as well.

Remus

One of the sides who actively seek out Cyrus, Remus accepts him as he is - broken, crying and all. Their friendship is a strange but warm chaos; Remus often trying to cheer Cyrus up with wildly inappropriate ways that surprisingly work.

Janus

Janus is deeply protective of Cyrus, seeing value in him more than any other side, they are very close and share a bond rooted in understanding what it means to be cast aside.

Roman & Logan

Both are unaware of Cyrus's existence, Roman may feel the emotional affects but dismisses them and Logan rationalizes the changes in Thomas's mood without knowing the full cause.
