Since I've already eshtablished that Third Age elves are very Gothic influenced in general and that Sindar in particular also has Celtic elements, Lothlórien elves are also fairly Celtic, which is why I based Galadriel's dress roughly on léine, but more Gothic than Mirkwood elves due to their closer ties to Rivendell.

If they wanted to keep with the Rani's Classic characterisation she wouldn't even have been the main villain in the finale. The Master in the tooth comes back somehow and Strange Thoschei Things commence while the Rani's just in the background trying to do some amoral sciency DNA thing and calling them slurs whenever they try to involve her.

If you want to involve Mrs Flood just show her sitting in the background on her phone, and halfway through the episode they pan around to reveal she's reading Doctor/Master smut on AO3.

alright so the credits and the bbc press release are specifically avoiding calling billie piper the new doctor. ncuti gatwa apparently left due to being busy with other projects which makes sense (having had a lot of doctor-lite episodes for that exact reason). the finale had a lot of last minute reshoots. all of this to say i think they maybe suddenly found themselves in a position where they needed a new actor for the doctor quickly and didn’t have the time to go through the casting process, so they got someone old and available back for some weird timey wimey hand-wavey nonsense? and bp is not actually the doctor but there is something weird in-universe going on that they now have to come up with retroactively before the next episode?

I based her design on Scythian, Safavid Persian and Iron Age Finnic and Baltic dress. Scythians were sort of the main inspiration, since they had a nomadic horse culture in the steppe, which is fitting for Rohans imo.

1/3 of the Fellowship

The Dwarfs are very clearly inspired mainly from Old Norse, so that's the main reference for Gimli's dress. There's also some other influences, like some Bronze Age Mediterranean influences and Iron Age Eastern Europe.

To me Tolkien's elves are very high Middle Ages and Gothic, but for Sindar I mixed in plenty of Celtic and especially Irish influence, and based Legolas' dress heavily on Irish léine.

Boromir's dress I based on mostly Byzantine but also some Medieval Arabic influences as I did for Faramir.
