Owww, harsh but true! It is currently 23USD to play for a year, but most users pay for multiple accounts and paying for an account outside of the US can really rack that cost up to match your currency to the USD.

The interesting part is that plenty of users are singing their praises to Veez for giving prompt replies when it has been proven in the past that Mods 'step in' for Veez very often in the event that she is 'too busy'.

The proof exists in a chaotic time where a very nasty rule was put into place that threw the entire Adoptable Community into a complete frenzy. It compromised every existing adoptable and sent many of them offsite; losing the site dozens of long time users.

Users were freaking out because Veez had apparently put this rule into place herself and it had been a week and she hadn't come forth on the thread expressing extreme dissatisfaction. At which point a mod admitted to 'filling in' for Veez when she was gone, such as then, when a very vital, discriminating rule was put in, which had been signed by herself.

Further proof is in bans. If you suffer a serious ban placed by mods (Who do not need Veez's permission to ban you upwards of a month from the site) and you PM Veez to get an Admin's verdict, expect to wait AT LEAST a week and a half to two weeks. Usually by then, the ban is over or the damage is done. This reveals that it is very likely people have been 'stepping in' to fill requests made by users that wouldn't ACTUALLY require Veez to review and make a statement on.

TL;DR: The admins communication is just fine, if your problem is mundane.

Ok here goes, lol. My favorite ban story. I was total banned from PI for a MONTH for having this little jewel stashed in the sixth-something page of my gallery on PI. It had literally been there for months and I'd forgotten about it entirely.

Me and a friend had been drawing crack jokes and this one was an inside joke where we had a running doodle line of Klaus and Layton doing stupid shit.

I was p. pissed and flipped my SHIT at the mods, which I felt bad for later. I was just really damned shocked at the severity of the ban.

I pointed out that it was a VERY crappy doodle and you couldn't hardly tell who the characters were let alone claim that it was child pornography of some kind. In response I got this:

Which merely begs the question of why someone has modship who is so easily and drastically offended over something so ridiculous?

I was practically being called a child rapist here. The doodles were such shit that you can't even tell it was Klaus in them.

I know someone who was banned for off site behavior which caused Moderators to track her obsessively on the site until she slipped up: earning herself a two week ban.

PonyIsland's Volunteer Problem

It's great that there are users dedicated enough to Ponyisland.net to sacrifice a great deal of time to contribute things to the site such as Artwork and Sgenes and ask for absolutely no money in return. It shows what a kind community exists and how the users really care about one another. As nice as this is, it is a highly flawed system for several reasons.

1. Ponyisland is not a Non-profit Organization. Users PAY to use it. Users expect their money, or at least a TINY portion of it, to go towards assuring Ponyisland doesn't take a nose-dive into shit city and cave in upon itself.

2. Volunteers, Mods and Admins hide behind the excuse that "We/they are doing this for free, you ungrateful bastards should just suck it up that there are no updates! This is hard work you have no idea how bad it is!" every time a single flaw on PI is mentioned or a new idea suggested.

3. It gives the Admins an excuse to be fucking lazy and cheap. They seem to believe that everyone will do absolutely everything for them for nothing in return. The volunteers basically give endless hand-outs and the Mods do ALL their work for nothing and they hardly have to raise a finger. And more importantly-they never have to PAY anyone or EMPLOY anyone, because being a boss just suckz hard! People who work for you don't deserve benefits, they should just be greatful they get DVS ponies whenever they want!

4. Why should the admins care about a site that basically runs itself for free!?

5. Ovipets: It appears all the money that would have been wasted paying people for their hard work has instead gone into another site that has been in the works forever. This explains Veez's absence no? Apparently, PI will soon run like Ovipets but no one knows when or if a better system will ever be implemented.

Implying anyone would pay for an online site a year in advance that they felt was going absolutely nowhere in updates or features.

If this had absolutely any standing, PI would have 'monthly pay to play' fee, which it does not. You pay for a year or you do not play at all. Ponyisland.net is not a videogame and has no standing on it's own. It is an Online Community and as such is meant to grow and advance.
