Crepes and Chaos
Mother’s Day Fic
Counselor! Sevika x Housewife! Reader
A/N: Since it's been a while since I wrote for you guys, please accept this as an apology (there’s a little fluff at the end)
(Happy Mother's Day, my loves >3<)
Tumblr media
The room is dark and quiet, the world outside forgotten. You and Sevika lie tangled together beneath the blankets, limbs intertwined in the kind of closeness that only exhaustion and love can create. Her arm is slung over your waist, your head tucked beneath her chin. Her breathing is slow and heavy, her body slack with sleep.
She’s been stretched thin lately—endless nights defending the Undercity on the council, and even longer days juggling the chaos of being a mom to two girls… sometimes three, if you’re being honest with yourself. And you? You’ve been holding the house together, one chore and meltdown at a time. Motherhood was a battlefield all its own.
You’d only asked for one thing for mother’s day when the topic was brought up, a day of rest with your wife. Sevika agreed to take a day off, and Jinx and Isha promised to behave. So last night, with one final kiss to each of the girls’ heads, you and Sevika crawled into bed, cuddling until sleep took over.
But peace never lasts.
Quiet footsteps approach the edge of your bed, making deliberate steps to avoid the creaky boards. A tiny hand reaches up to nudge Sevika slightly.
A deep, guttural groan rumbles from her chest. “What do you want?” she mumbles without opening her eyes.
The little hands become more aggressive, smacking and shaking her arm now. This gets Sevika to open her eyes, squinting at the culprit.
Her gaze softens when she sees Isha, her bright eyes full of annoyance.
“I’m sorry kiddo,” she whispers, lifting her arm to ruffle Isha’s hair. “What’s up?”
You can’t understand me with your eyes closed!
Isha’s hands move fast, showing her annoyance.
“I know, I know…” Sevika finally sits up, moving slowly so as to not wake you.
We got stuff to do, remember?
Isha’s face is stern, making sure Sevika knows she’s serious.
Sevika lets out a sigh before pushing herself off the bed. As tired as she is, she promised to help the girls out with their surprise. She’d give anything to crawl back into bed, kissing you and playing with your hair as she falls back asleep, but a promise is a promise and the girls would never forgive her if she broke one.
Isha grabs Sevika’s hand, guiding them to the kitchen, where Vi, Jinx, and a pile of bags await them. The kitchen is already a flurry of barely-controlled chaos. Vi is unloading bags onto the counter while Jinx hisses in a loud whisper behind her.
“We should’ve started earlier! There’s not enough time—she’s gonna wake up and it’ll all be ruined!”
Sevika raises an eyebrow at the whirlwind of energy. “Good morning to you too,” she mutters.
Jinx jumps and spins around. “Finally! Reinforcements!”
Before she can say more, Sevika gently places a calming hand on her shoulder and pulls her into a hug. Jinx stiffens at first, then melts into it. It’s a rare comfort, but one she always accepts when it’s offered.
Isha, not one to be left out of affection, throws her arms around both of them. Vi blinks, then shrugs and joins in, wrapping the group hug up like a warm blanket.
“She’s gonna love it,” Sevika murmurs into Jinx’s hair. “That woman melts over every little thing you guys do. This? This is gonna wreck her.”
Jinx sniffles and nods. “Thanks, guys. I needed that.”
Let’s go! Let’s go! I wanna get started already!
Jinx and Sevika laugh, but Vi looks confused. She isn’t around much so she hasn’t picked up much of Isha’s sign language.
“What’d she say?” She whispers to Sevika, hoping Jinx doesn’t hear her.
“She said to get your butts over here and help,” Jinx answers before Sevika can. “And I said to practice your sign language.”
Vi groans. “I’m trying, okay?”
She continued to unload all the bags, setting the cooking supplies in one place and the decoration supplies in another. Sevika grabs her apron, her supplies, and takes her place by the counter.
Sevika is pretty damn good as a cook, which surprised everyone, even you. Her job was to make the crepes with Isha, while Vi and Jinx set up the decorations around the house.
“Alright kiddo, grab your apron and we’ll get started.” Sevika tells Isha, who’s already rushing to her closet. She takes no time to grab it and throws it on, smiling up at Sevika.
Sevika and Isha begin mixing all the ingredients they’d bought for the morning: flour, eggs, milk, and salt. Sevika measures and pours, leaving Isha to do all the mixing. It’s a messy process but they enjoy it anyway, laughing and giggling together.
Across the room, Jinx steps back to admire the table she and Vi have set. It’s small, but covered with a heart-patterned tablecloth. Crayon-colored cards are arranged across the plates, each one filled with wild doodles and scribbled letters.
Vi whistles. “Not bad, huh?”
Jinx nods. “Honestly? It’s perfect.”
As the last crepes were made, they were set aside on a large plate, waiting to be served. Jinx, Vi, and Isha left to go get out of their pajamas, and had tasked Sevika with getting you up. She also wanted to get changed but the girls voted, unfairly out voting her like always.
Sevika made her way over to the room, slowly opening the door to check if you were still sleeping. You were. She sat for a moment, taking in the sight of you. Your hair sprawled messily across the pillows, the faint light reflecting off your skin, and the way her shirt swallowed you up. To anyone else, you would probably look a mess, but to Sevika, you were her everything.
She walked over to your side of the bed, kneeling down beside you. She brushes your hair out of your face and plants a soft kiss on your forehead.
“It’s time to get up, my love.” She whispers to you, only receiving a soft groan in response.
“I know you’re tired,” Sevika caresses your check. “But I promise I’m waking you for a good reason.”
“Someone better be dyin’” Your voice is soft, but you’re dead serious. You open your eyes to see Sevika laughing, causing you to pout. “Why aren’t you in bed right now?”
“Come see for yourself.” Sevika stands up, moving to the end of the bed waiting for you to follow.
“You’re so lucky I love you,” you groan, getting out of bed reluctantly. “I”d smack you for waking me up otherwise.” You threaten her, making her laugh again.
You stretch and yawn before slipping into your house shoes. You kiss Sevika’s cheek and interlock your fingers with hers. Sevika, being the giant teddy bear she is, wraps her free arm around your waist and pulls you in for a kiss. You melt into her, missing the simple days before now. You’d kill to stay in the moment, just like this, forever.
The moment, however. Is broken by a tap on your leg. Looking down you see the same bright eyes that awoke Sevika, Isha. She has a giant smile plastered on her face, showing off her adorable little tooth gap. She’s in a blue dress, the one you bought her for her birthday.
“Well don’t you look nice?” You giggle, leaning down to kiss her face, making her giggle and squeal.
As you stand back up, Sevika stands behind you, placing her hands over your eyes. After living in this house for 3 years, you’ve given up questioning things, so you place your hands on top of hers without saying a word.
Before you can be led anywhere, though, Sevika feels a tug on her shirt. Looking down she watches Isha’s hands.
Can I do it?
She’s making her puppy dog face and she’s up on Sevika’s shoulders in an instant.
Sevika’s hands, now placed on your waist, and Isha’s now over your eyes, the three of you walk into the living room. They move slowly, making sure not to hit anything on the way there. Once you all reach the living room, Sevika whispers to you to keep your eyes closed, allowing Isha to get in her spot.
Once given the okay, you open your eyes.
“Happy Mother’s Day!” Vi and Jinx shout.
Isha holds up a poster that she decorated:
It reads ‘Hapy Mother’s Day’, with the E backwards. It's got hand drawn butterflies and hearts all over it. It’s sloppy, Isha refusing to let anyone tell her that she misspelled things or help her in any way. It was perfect.
Tears filled your eyes, taking in the sight of the girls. Your girls. They might not have been your blood, but you loved them more than anything in the world.
“Do we do something wrong?” Jinx’s smile begins to falter, seeing the tears.
You rush over, scooping the girls into your arms. “No, it’s amazing,” You whisper. The girls embrace you, laughing and feeling relieved. “How’d you come up with this?”
“Jinx and I were just gonna do cards, but then Isha suggested we add more,” Vi starts. “She wanted a whole party but we kinda figured this was more your style.”
“Oh baby, it’s perfect.” You squeeze Isha’s cheeks, as she beams up at you.
I made the food!
She signs excitedly, before running off to the kitchen to grab plates.
“I helped, little rat!” Sevika calls after her.
You smirk. “I know you did, babe.”
“I was promised sleep,” Sevika mutters into your hair, wrapping her arms around you again.
“Alright, how is everyone gonna fit at this table?” Vi points over to the small table.
“Isha usually sits in my lap,” Jinx offers. “So Lefty’s lap is free.”
Sevika perks up. “Gladly,” she says, pulling out a chair and patting her thigh.
You roll your eyes but sit, laughing as Jinx groans, “I walked right into that.”
By the time Isha comes back with the crepes, everyone is seated at the table. Isha climbs into Jinx’s lap and immediately stuffs a crepe into her mouth. She gives a muffled, satisfied hum that has everyone laughing.
“Slow down, kid, you’ll choke,” Sevika warns, though the smirk tugging at her lips says she’s not all that serious.
Jinx chuckles, brushing crumbs from Isha’s chin. “She’s been talking about these crepes all morning. Honestly, we’re lucky she didn’t eat half the batter raw.”
“I didn’t!” Isha signs, looking offended. “I only tasted it!”
“You taste like, five times,” Sevika retorts, squinting at her.
You laugh. “That’s my girl.”
The morning passes in a blur of chatter, laughter, and syrupy hands. Plates are cleared, and the little table looks like it’s been through a flour tornado, but nobody minds. You lean into Sevika as the girls start cleaning up around you, letting the weight of the moment settle over you.
Sevika shifts slightly behind you, letting her hands slide from your waist down to your thighs with a casualness that’s anything but innocent. She leans in, lips brushing just under your ear.
“You looked real good sittin’ in my lap just now,” she murmurs, voice low and husky. “Couldn’t stop thinking about what I’d do if we had the house to ourselves for a little while…”
You bite your lip and tilt your head toward her, letting your fingertips brush teasingly along the inside of her thigh. “Oh? You trying to seduce me with breakfast breath and syrup fingers?”
She chuckles against your skin, her stubble just rough enough to make you shiver. “I could seduce you with a damn frown, and you know it.”
Your breath hitches as she presses a kiss just below your jawline, slow and lingering. “You’re getting bold,” you whisper, trying not to smirk.
“I’m getting needy,” she replies, eyes half-lidded as she watches your reaction. “You wore my shirt to bed. You snored in my arms. And now you're sittin’ here lookin' like a dream... I’ve been fighting the urge to drag you back to bed since I woke up.”
Just as your lips part to answer, a tiny gasp breaks the moment. You both turn to see Isha standing nearby with wide eyes and a hand dramatically slapped over her mouth.
Sevika snorts. “Busted.”
“You’re gross!” Isha signs with exaggerated horror. “You're making kissy faces!”
You and Sevika both burst out laughing. You reach out and pull Isha into a hug, peppering her cheeks with kisses while she shrieks in fake protest.
Jinx walks up, hands on her hips, clearly trying to hold back a grin. “Alright, alright, break it up. No kissing in front of the kids.”
“I’m scarred for life!” Isha signs dramatically before covering her eyes.
Vi ruffles Isha’s hair, smirking. “C’mon, squirt. Let’s go let these two have a moment before Sevika starts drooling.”
“I don’t drool,” Sevika grumbles.
“You definitely do,” you tease.
Jinx scoops Isha up with a grin. “Wanna go see Ekko? He’s been working on a new mini-bot thingy. You can be the first to test it out.”
Instantly, Isha perks up, her eyes lighting up as she nods enthusiastically. She throws her arms around you and Sevika in a tight hug before being carried off, Vi and Jinx already arguing about who gets to try the bot second.
As the door closes behind them, the house falls quiet.
Sevika turns to you with a raised brow, arms already wrapping back around your waist. “Alone at last.”
You smirk, winding your arms around her neck. “You know, it is still Mother’s Day…”
Her grin turns downright devilish. “And I plan on making you feel very appreciated.”
You laugh as she sweeps you into her arms, carrying you off toward the bedroom with all the soft strength you’ve come to love.
“Happy Mother’s Day, baby.” Sevika whispers as you lay in her arms.
You wrap your arms around her neck, kissing her. “Happy Mother’s Day, Sevy.”

A Stray's Promise (Part 5)
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
A/N: I know it's been a while since I updated it... (Writer's block and my schedule has been killing me-) I hope you guys enjoy this chapter anyway
Tumblr media
“Stray, I don't know if I can do this…” Sevika’s hand trembled at her side, fingers twitching like they wanted to curl into fists but couldn’t quite commit. Her voice was barely above a whisper, fragile in a way you weren’t used to hearing.
You place a firm hand on her shoulder, grounding her. “He can’t hurt you anymore,” you give her a small smile. “Especially with him around.” You nod toward Vander, who stands at her other side, arms crossed, expression unreadable but watchful.
Sevika swallows hard, her throat bobbing. Then, she exhales, shoulders squaring as she nods. “Alright… Let’s do this.”
The door creaks open under her shaking grip, revealing the dimly lit, suffocating space she used to call home. The air is thick with stale alcohol and smoke, suffused with something rotten underneath it all—neglect, resentment, fear.
And then, from deeper inside—a slurred, irritated voice.
“For fuck’s sake, Sevika! Out all night then walkin’ in here like you own the damn place.” Heavy, uneven footsteps stumble toward the entryway.
Her father emerges from the shadows, eyes bloodshot, face lined with exhaustion and something nastier. He glares at Sevika first, too preoccupied with his anger to notice you and Vander standing behind her.
“Where the hell have you been?” His gaze is sharp and expectant, like she owes him an explanation, like she owes him anything at all.
Sevika’s lips part, but nothing comes out. She’s shaking.
Vander places a hand on her shoulder, his presence solid and unwavering. “She was with me.”
His voice wasn’t in his usual tone. Gone is the easygoing, familiar warmth he always carries—it’s cold now, clipped, dangerous.
Her father finally turned his attention to you both, his face twisting with something between confusion and disgust. His eyes land on you first.
“You-” He scoffs, taking an unsteady step forward. “Who told you to come back here?”
You stand your ground, biting back the venom rising in your throat. But before you can respond, he shifts his gaze to Vander, squinting.
“And who the hell are you?”
“I’m someone who gives a damn about your daughter,” he says, slow and deliberate. “Something you clearly can’t say for yourself.”
Her father’s face begins to shift, the confusion replaced by seething rage.
“Dad, please-” Sevika begins to plead with her father, but he’s quick to interrupt her.
“Shut the hell up! You’re always causing problems, bringing in strangers to my house and running away. I can’t believe-”
“Enough.” Vander’s voice cuts through the room like a blade.
He steps forward, moving you and Sevika behind him like a shield. You hold onto Sevika’s trembling hands, giving them a light squeeze. You know what’s about to go down but you’re not sure if she’s ready for it.
“We just came to grab her stuff and go,” Vander states, voice even. Firm. Unshakable. “She’s gonna be staying with me from now on.”
Silence. A dangerous, drawn-out moment where her father processes those words.
Then, he lets out a humorless, bitter laugh. “You’re not taking my kid anywhere.”
He lunges.
Vander moves faster. His hand shoots out, grabbing the man’s wrist before it can even graze Sevika. The difference in strength is staggering. Her father struggles, his face twisting in anger and humiliation as he yanks his arm back—but Vander doesn’t let go.
“Don’t touch her.”
The warning is low, a growl, carrying the weight of something primal and unforgiving.
“I’m her father,” the man snarls, yanking himself free with a sharp, jerking motion. “Not you. Let me go, and get the hell out of my house.” He shoves Vander’s chest—a mistake.
Vander doesn’t move an inch.
“Go to the room.” His voice doesn’t rise, but it leaves no room for argument. “Grab your stuff, and don’t come out until I say so.”
You don’t hesitate. Neither does Sevika.
You grab her hand and run, finding yourself back in her bedroom.
Tumblr media
The moment you and Sevika disappear into her room, the tension snaps like a pulled wire.
Sevika’s father glares at Vander, rage and alcohol mixing in his blood as he stumbles forward. His lip curls, and his words slur together.
“Big guy like you thinks you can just take her away, huh? Walk in here and act like you’re her savior?” He sneers. “She’s my damn daughter—”
"You sure as hell don’t act like it," Vander cuts in, his voice low and controlled, but there’s a dangerous edge beneath it.
“Don’t talk to me about my own blood like you know a damn thing, you son of a bitch.” Her father swings—sloppy, fueled by nothing but blind rage.
Vander moves at the last second. Effortless. Fluid. Controlled.
He grabs the man’s wrist mid-air like it weighs nothing and twists it back with brutal precision.
A sharp crack fills the room.
“Agh—!” Her father grunts, his body jerking forward as he tries to pull away. Vander doesn’t let go.
“You’re weak.” Vander’s grip tightens, knuckles turning white. His voice doesn’t rise. It doesn’t need to. “Weak in body, weak in mind. You couldn’t fight me if you tried, and you sure as hell couldn’t fight for her.”
Her father wrenches himself free, stumbling backward, cradling his wrist. His face twists in fury. “She’s my damn kid! You don’t get to tell me how to—”
"She ain’t yours anymore."
Vander steps forward, slowly, like a predator closing in on something that doesn’t even know it’s already dead.
"A father protects his kid," Vander says, eyes burning like embers in the dim light. "He doesn’t beat her into submission. Doesn’t leave her alone while he drinks himself into oblivion."
His father scoffs, chest rising and falling fast as he backs up toward the wall. “You think you’re some kind of hero? Some righteous asshole come to save the day?” His voice cracks at the end.
“No. I think I’m the only one in this room who gives a damn about her.”
Vander’s voice is steady, unshakable, but there’s something simmering beneath it. Something that wants to break every single bone in this man’s body.
Her father waves a shaking hand. "She’s just a dumb girl—"
Vander moves.
Faster than a man his size should be able to.
His fist slams into the man's stomach with bone-crushing force.
A sick, choked noise escapes his fathers lips. He folds over, gasping, knees hitting the floor.
Vander towers over him, a shadow swallowing him whole.
“Say that again.”
His voice isn’t loud. It’s worse.
Her father coughs violently, struggling to pull in air. His arms shake as he tries to push himself up.
“She’s—”
“She’s leaving with me.”
Vander crouches down, his hand gripping the man’s collar, pulling him just close enough to meet his cold, steel gaze.
"You don’t own her. You never did. And you sure as hell don’t deserve her."
The father swallows thickly, chest heaving.
Vander lowers his voice, turning it into something lethal.
“If you ever come near her again… if you ever so much as breathe her name in the wrong way—”
He leans in, grip tightening.
"I will break every single bone in your body, one by one, until you’re nothing but a pathetic, bleeding heap on this floor."
His father nods rapidly, fear cutting through the alcohol in his system.
Vander lets go.
The man collapses, gasping for air, clutching his side.
"Stay the hell down." Vander stands, straightens his jacket, and doesn’t even look back.
Tumblr media
Sevika’s ears are pressed against the door, straining to hear the commotion from outside. Her entire body is rigid with tension as she tries to make sense of the muffled shouting just outside. Her eyes are wide, locked on nothing, only listening.
“Sevika c’mon, we gotta get your stuff together,” you say, trying your hardest to pry her away from the door.
She doesn't move. Her feet might as well be bolted to the floor. She barely even blinks. All her focus is on the chaos unraveling beyond that door.
Giving up, you drop her arm, if she’s not gonna pack then you’ll just have to do it for her.  You tear through the room, opening drawers and pulling out shirts, socks, anything that looks clean or worn enough to matter. You toss them into a bag with clumsy urgency. You scan the room, looking for anything that might be of value. This would be so much easier with her help.
You’re raiding her closet when you hear a giant thud, causing you to jump.
You freeze mid-grab, a sweater clutched in your hands.
Sevika bolts.
“Sevika, wait—!”
You drop everything and sprint after her.
You find Sevika standing in the hallway, staring at her father. He's on the ground, wheezing, a bloodied lip and swollen jaw painting a picture of what just happened. Vander has his back turned to the both of you.
“Grab what she needs, and let’s get home, Stray.” Vander calls to you as he walks to the door. His breathing is heavy but controlled. He doesn't look at either of you. He doesn't need to.
Despite every bone in your body telling you to stay by her side, you go back to her room, grabbing what you’ve packed. Clothes—check. Shoes—check. You grab the rest of the bag, shoving in anything else that might matter. A folded-up photo from the mirror. A small chain from the dresser. One last look around and you're back in the hallway in seconds.
Sevika’s still standing there, rooted like she doesn’t know how to move anymore. You grab her hand gently and tug.
“Let’s go.”
She doesn’t resist. She doesn’t say a word. Her fingers tremble in yours but she runs beside you, letting you lead her. She keeps her eyes low, lips pressed tight. Her face is streaked with tears she never wiped away.
You round the corner and find Vander waiting near the exit, his massive frame half-blocking the doorway. He glances between the two of you—her tear-stained face, your panic barely tucked under the surface.
"Vander..." you breathe, voice cracking, unsure if you’re asking for help or just needing to say his name aloud.
He doesn’t speak. Just gives a firm nod.
Then, without a word, he steps toward Sevika and effortlessly lifts her into his arms. She doesn’t fight it. She doesn’t flinch. Her arms go around his shoulders, her head dropping against his chest.
Sevika’s hand slips out of yours, and for the first time since entering the house, she finally looks up.
Locking eyes, you see them filled with a storm of emotions. Fear, confusion, relief, sadness. She holds her hand out, silently asking for you to take it. So you do.
“Don’t let go, please…” Her voice breaking, barely audible.
“I won’t, I promise.” You whisper back, not even sure if she could hear you.
No one else said a thing as the three of you made your way back home. Vander in front with Sevika in his arms, you close in tow, holding onto Sevika’s hand.
