Silver scrambled up the ladder of the bunk bed. His ankle throbbed. He'd hurt it when some of his classmates had pushed him down during gym.

He'd told them he was fine, but the pain had gotten worse throughout the day.

He buried himself under the blanket. He didn't want his brothers to see that he was hurt, even if they weren't there.

When he finally tugged off his boot, he saw his foot was swollen. It looked bad. It felt bad.

He dropped both his boots over the side of the bed, and he curled up still under the blanket. His head was under the blanket.

He let a few tears flow. His brothers weren't in the room, so he figured he could let out a few tears without letting them see.

There was creaking. He hadn't heard them over his sobs. Did his sobbing hide the sound of the door opening?

He had run home ahead of his brothers.

They had probably just arrived home.

A hand rested on his back, rubbing in circular motions.

He lifted the blanket, just a little, to peep out.

A green eye stared back at him.

He squeaked in surprise. Sonic laughed, then Silver felt himself tugged upright and hugged. Sonic was the only hugger.

He felt another hand rest on his back, this one with only three fingers.

"H-How'd you...?"

"We share a room, doofus," Eclipse's raspy voice replied.

Shadow didn't say anything. The movement of his brothers' hands was so comforting. Silver moved the blanket from on top of his head.

He squirmed, and felt his hurt foot peek out, and then he squirmed desperately, trying to hide it.

But you know blankets, when something peeks out you have to work hard to get it re-hidden.

Shadow hissed in a breath.

"Who did this to you," Eclipse hissed, his voice low and dangerous.

"I-I just tripped during gym... o-on a rock!"

"A rock. On a gym field."

Silver flinched. Shadow was right.

"What are their names," Eclipse hissed.

"No fighting, you've been in detention three times for that already this week alone," Sonic protested.

Eclipse turned a sharp glare on the younger twin, who held his gaze until the darkling dropped his.

Shadow took Silver in one arm and carried him down, then set him on his own bed.

A few minutes later, the pain in Silver's ankle had subsided. The ice pack soothed the pain, and the bandages helped limit the movement.

Shadow had determined it was sprained, and he'd taken care of Silver.

Now all three of his brothers were sitting around him. Sonic and Shadow were on either side, and he felt Eclipse playfully resting his chin on the top of his head.

"We're here for you, baby brother," Sonic told him, nudging Silver's shoulder with his own. Eclipse squeezed Silver's shoulder, and Shadow rested a hand on his other shoulder.

Silver felt a few tears leak out, and he just cuddled into his brothers.

Somehow, they saw him.

Shadow: Not a big fan of sweets. Besides, they'd want it more *Nods at his brothers*

Silver: N-No, I'm good... *He wants it but doesn't want to take it if his brothers want it*

*Sonic and Eclipse are about to fight for it, but they look at Silver's downcast face, look at each other, and give it to him*

*Silver's face lights up and he hugs them before taking it, but then looks guilty, breaks it in half, and gives it to them*

*Sonic and Eclipse eventually break their halves in half so all four get a piece*

To all of you! What's your favorite season? Any reasons why? Do you just like it?

Shadow: I prefer spring. I can have alone time outside without the sun being too intense.

Sonic: That's cause your quills love the sun more than you do, Shadz!

Shadow: ...

Sonic: I prefer Fall. It's amazing to hide in leaf piles and be a leaf shark. Just reach out, grab a bro by the ankle, and drag him to his leafy doom...

Eclipse: *Laughing* You got that idea from me!

Sonic: Nuh-uh!

Eclipse: Yuh-huh! You like fall because I like it for that same reason! You said it was winter before because you could pretend Silver's invisible in the snow!

Silver: I like Winter because I can be invisible in the snow. Sonic and Eclipse can NEVER find me when we play hide and seek in the snow!

*Sonic and Eclipse are trying not to laugh because they can full well find him, they're just pretending*

Sonic: I also like Summer. It's nice to be able to go to the beach and try to bury Shadow in the sand. He's fine with it, suprisingly!

Shadow: Because you do it when I'm SLEEPING!

*comes in with a massive bag*

I come bearing gifts! Plushies for each of you! Shadow, this black cat is for you. Sonic, you get the blue penguin. Silver, I've got a white pony for you. And Eclipse gets the ducky!

*Each of the boys takes the plush given to him*

Shadow: *Faintly smiles at it. The smile is almost not there, but you can see it in the way his ears twitch and his tail shifts*

Sonic: You're now... hmm... Toboggan! I mean, that's what it's called when a penguin belly slides, isn't it? *His tail is wagging*

Eclipse: Lily. *He just stares at the duck*

Silver: *Gives you an amazed look, then cuddles it with a wagging tail* I'll name you snowflake!

Note: I took inspiration for the duck plush's name from Lily, Crusher of Skulls from @doomfox's Darkling Wade AU. OR is it @stillafanofsonic's whipple family AU?

To Silver:

Basic Question: What is your favorite hobby when you are not saving your time/world?

Curious Question: How do you adjust to the constant fiery, arid, and dry climate of your city?

Weird Question: What would you do if you had your arms and legs swapped?

Silver:

I... I don't know what you mean about the first and second questions...

As for the third one, I think I would mostly just float everywhere? I don't think I'd be able to get around normally anymore, so I think I'd just float...

Hey boys! How were you rescued from your respective situations and how did you end up meeting each other?

Shadow: It was sudden. They forgot about me again and locked me out. I was trying to get in when someone walked by.

Sonic: I think it was taking a toll. People noticed I was down and asked me and then someone visited my parents. They were like "what kid," and off I went.

Eclipse: Someone saw something fly out my bedroom window. Period.

Silver: They got careless and they saw the bruises at school.

Shadow: Then they took us to some room and told us we all got a DNA test and had brothers. *Shrugs* Out of nowhere, but none of us knew the others were alive.

Shadow:

Sonic is... loud is putting it mildly. Eclipse is a little better, but only a little. Silver is too jumpy. *at this point looking at his brothers* But they each pay attention to me. It's overwhelming at times, but somehow... I don't want to let them go.

Sonic:

Shadow and Silver are pretty fun to mess with, and I've got a partner-in-crime in Clip! Less fun to mess with Shads, though, he gets mad easy. Then Silv might cry at the wrong time, but they like me. I can tell. *smirking at the others. Silver takes the opportunity to stick his tongue out at the younger twin, only to get two tongues sticking back out at him, from Sonic and Eclipse*

Eclipse:

Shadow and Silver are sensitive, but Silver needs protecting. *He hesitates* And maybe I can do something right and make sure they're not lost. Sonic's got pranks, though. Not as good as mine, of course!

Silver:

They're so bold and brave and... *He looks nervously at them* I keep... expecting they're a dream, that I'll wake up and they'll be gone. But they're still here... *He scoots closer, and Sonic ruffles his quills. Shadow and Eclipse lean away for a moment, then Shadow pats Silver's back awkwardly and Eclipse pounces on Silver, tickling him*

How the Boys go About the Change

Shadow:

Shadow is closed off. He does love his brothers, but he's afraid of losing them again, and he doesn't think he really needs their affection. He just watches them. However, he does sometimes surprise them with his ability to easily comfort them. If one of them is especially vulnerable at the moment, he will go up to him and just sit there with a hand on his shoulder.

Sonic:

Sonic is super loud and jokes all the time, eager to get a smile from his brothers. He is impulsive and often forgets to consider that they might want to be left alone, but he will goof off to try and cheer them up without a second thought. He's friendly, but he does get teased at school, and much to his surprise, Shadow shuts them up with one sharp glare.

Eclipse:

Eclipse is impulsive and reckless, since he sees himself as his brothers' protector. He feels that if he does a good job protecting them, he would earn their love. This makes him scrappy at school whenever he hears about Silver being bullied. If you wrong one if his brothers, you better hope said brothers are nearby to hold him back.

Silver:

Silver is obedient and timid. He wants to earn his brothers' love, unaware that he already has it. He will assert himself if pushed, but he's quiet about it. He tries to hide any pain and suffering from his brothers, leading to their getting upset with him for refusing help when he clearly needs it. This leads to him getting upset with himself. Poor thing cries himself to sleep once a night, only to be surprised when his brothers comfort him. He loves them with all his heart.

The Boys' Stories!

TRIGGER WARNING: PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Shadow:

Shadow was raised by a couple that frequently forgot he existed. More often than not, when he came home from school the people in charge of him would freak out and accuse him of being a home invader until they realize "oh wait, we've got a kid." As you can imagine, Shadow became self-sufficient and stopped needing much of anything attention-wise. Maria was his foster sister, but she died from sickness. Her parents noticed Shadow then and would make veiled jabs at him verbally because they somehow believed it was Shadow's fault she died.

Sonic:

Sonic was raised by a couple who knew he existed, but they didn't care. They would know he existed and acknowledge him, but they would often tell him to be quiet. Sonic has really bad ADHD, so he kept getting told to hold still. His foster parents thought of this with contempt and would often tell him his teachers needed to be harder on him, asking him how much longer until he moved out, and so on. He longed for positive attention and became an attention-seeker, but not in a bad way. He became super friendly and open towards everything, not to mention tolerant.

Eclipse:

Eclipse was raised by a couple that was ashamed of him. When he was at home, he wasn't allowed out of his room. Often, they would come up and ask him to clean his room or whatever, followed with an insult about his ugliness or incompetence or something along those lines. Eclipse became defensive in response, which led to things getting worse. They started grabbing the nearest thing to throw at him when he spoke back. As a result, he became alert and ready to fight for the slightest thing. He is cheerful at being outside, but touchy, and he sees himself as a waste.

Silver:

Silver was raised by a couple with a lot of pent-up anger. Rules would change. One day he was allowed to go in the backyard without asking, the next day he would get in trouble for it. When he was in trouble, there was tons of yelling and hitting involved. Sometimes, they would take out anger at each other on Silver. Being bullied at school didn't help, and he often walked around with bruises, believing he deserved the pain. He still does, and he grew to be docile and meek. He is jumpy and timid, and says sorry way too much when he does anything. He doesn't like to admit he needs help, either.

At this point, they were each rescued from these situations and introduced to one another.

Sonic and Shadow are 16 year old twins, Eclipse is the 15 year old younger bro, and Silver is youngest at 14

Basically they were separated as kids, all four were abused in some way (the older two through neglect, the younger two more verbal and physical) and only just were taken from those environments and were told "surprise you have three brothers LOL"

Therefore, these long-lost brothers are now trying to work through their pain and discover what it means to be brothers. Feel free to ask anything or request little stories!
