she was beyond desperate. she hadn’t fed on anything in days — her own ignorance to her hunger, she supposes — and it was starting to affect her. she could see the cathedral’s steeple towering over the other buildings as she hurried down the street in its direction. she didn’t usually feed in areas like this; after all, she does respect places of worship, vampire or not, but she was desperate. she could smell the woman's blood, hear it rushing and echoing throughout the cathedral as she ran up the stairs to the building like a man gone mad. she opened the door and stepped in, taking in the strong, sweet scent of the woman's blood, lottie now able to match the scent to a face. the woman was blonde, with what looked to be blue eyes. she had a priests gown on and stood at the alter, reading aloud from an old, dusty bible. as the door closed behind lottie, the woman looked up, smiling kindly.

“hello there, welcome to our parish, my name is priest lee, though you may call me laura lee. whichever you prefer.”

there was a look in her eyes, as if she knew, somehow, what she was, knew the monster that had stepped into her holy space. but that was impossible. 

lottie walked towards the woman, eyeing her like prey. laura lee would be her meal for the night and God knows lottie will be savoring every last drop of this heavenly being, her scent more enticing than anything she had ever smelled before.

laura lee raises an eyebrow. “not one for words? i can sense the turmoil in you, darling, let me help you.”

lottie didnt respond, not trusting herself to speak. instead, she approached the alter, the platform tall enough to give off the appearance of laura lee towering over her. the blonde circled the alter before stepping down the platform, coming face to face with lottie. 

“you poor, troubled soul.” she spoke, her voice soft and velvety. “you are so pale… you must be starving.”

lotties eyes widen subtly. she can’t know. theres absolutely no way she can tell. unless…

“feed from me, darling, i can handle it.” laura lee giggles softly, thumb reaching out to caress her protruding fang.

and boy does lottie feed.

she drinks from the priest until her mouth is sore, the blonde barely conscious; a loose smile on her lips, her eyes staring into lottie, into her soul.

when laura lee can finally speak again, she utters: “i can always tell. i am a priest after all, my connection to god is as strong as yours to the devil. we are but two sides of the same coin, my darling, do not forget that.”

and with that lottie leaves her, running as fast as she can away from the cathedral; the memory of the blonde, her sounds, her scent, her taste, burned into her mind forevermore.
