Naruto looks down on Sasuke, sleeping in the middle of the room. He looks at peace, a rare sight to see; he yearned for this, fought for this. It’s one he would cherish.

He kneels beside the sleeping man, and realisation washes over him like cold, freezing water. He tenses.

I’m in love with Sasuke.

It was a thought that had haunted him, one he pushed at the back of his mind, leaving it to collect dust.

Naruto wasn’t that religious, he had thought he’d lost his religion at a young age; he believed that the Gods shunned him just like the people of the village, afterall.

But like a devotee, he kneels. He lowered his head, was it shame? fear? He’s not sure. He thinks of his parents, of their wish for him to find a wife to start a family with, and he shudders.

His mind is spinning, puts his head into his hands as a way to stop it, but he can’t. He feels like he’s going to throw up.

Like a devotee he asks for forgiveness, Mother, father, forgive me for I have sinned. I haven’t found a wife to spend my life with, and perhaps I never will.

He thinks of the dirty and accusing fingers pointed at him as a kid, accompanied by dagger-sharp words that pierce through him, but before his mind spirals further, he thinks of Sasuke, his salvation. He thinks of his eyes that he’d often get lost in, gentle yet piercing, soft yet passionate. He thinks of his pale skin covered in scars like carvings etched on a marble statue. A statue for him to kneel at, to worship.

And Naruto thinks again, Mother, and father, I am kneeling in front of the person I wish to be with, longed to be with; in the end my childish curiosity was love. I’ll take back my apology and I won’t ask for the mercy of the gods; for loving him is a sin I would commit again. If the gods wish to punish me for filling my life with Sasuke, then so be it.

Naruto brings his hands to Sasuke’s; he’s no longer praying, he’s longing. “Sasuke, I love you.” A whisper, a prayer no longer unspoken. “I love you more than anything,” Naruto wasn’t religious, but at this moment, he understood what worship was. He no longer felt sick, no longer tasted bile, for the name on his tongue tasted sweet, tempting, sinful; or maybe like milk and honey. Naruto converts, he shall build a chapel of Sasuke in his heart.

So this is a cosplay for tgcf (heaven official’s blessing) performed by Naruto and Sasuke (only costume, they behave as they usually do). Sometimes I came across tgcf art in my feed and I decided to go through the tag, there were stunningly beautiful paintings there, I couldn’t help but take advantage of it and draw something. But since I am completely unfamiliar with the story itself, I used two guys I knew as assistants for the idea)
