If your fic is 1000 words long, you can’t tag it slow burn. It’s not slow burn. That is a matchstick. And this is my personal bias here but if those motherfuckers you’re writing experience significant forward momentum in their relationship in under 5k words, then that is just a regular old burn. Slow burn should be borderline intolerable and a mistake to start reading at 2 in the morning.

wait galaxy brain (someone has def said this before but) dean should've crossed paths with gordon in purgatory. actuallyyyy. imagine s8 purgatory arc but instead of benny it's gordon who finds dean and helps him. and dean does Not trust him at first bc of everything that went down before with gordon gunning for sam. but eventually he earns back some trust. the years in purgatory have changed him. and helping dean find cas sure helps. as does saving cas from a leviathan attack. slowly they form a friendship. and ohhhhhh thee delicious fallout when sam realizes dean let gordon back out. "he tried to KILL me, dean!" "he's different now, sammy!"

sam's whole "I mean, who are you gonna turn to next time instead of me? Another angel, another -- another vampire?" in 8x23 but the vampire in question is gordon. ohhh god it would have been so good.
