So i watched the HTTYD live action recently and absolutely LOVE IT😭 so color me surprised when i saw so much discourse about it on Tiktok, one of the ones that sticks out to me the most is that the people that liked it simply "don't appreciate animation" and "can't see it's a cash grab" which is so????

Like as far as i know, yes Dreamworks was gonna make it whether the og creator liked it or not but he himself decided that if it was gonna be made HE was gonna make sure it was good, and also took it upon himself to make it like such by rewriting what he thought were mistakes and missed opportunities, so really even if it technically is frame to frame replica of the og animation, it still have some uniqueness to what it is, and it doesn't mean that one can't appreciate the og's animation, like hell some people might still like the og design of The Red Death better than what they did with the live action and STILL like the live action one!

Also most of the discourse about how they changed up some characters, more empathizing on the physical aspect rather than personality, which to me the physical aspect one i think it boils down to: unless the character's identity is based on a physical attribute, why would it be such a turn off if they are different? like Astrid's actress doesn't look like the og, but she embodied the baddie that the og Astrid was so perfectly, like being blond isn't the reason the og Astrid was a baddie be fr.

I do understand the personality argument a lil more especially with people that these characters could be their hyperfixation and/or comfort ones but i think that even then they portrayed them very accordingly, and also people don't get that its not really easy to convey different emotions and stuff from comical animation to live action, as the case can be viceversa, so i think they did great with what they could.

And also the DRAGON DESIGNS??? ugh I'm obsessed, as someone that their fav dragon portrayal media is Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, people criticized them for making the dragons be like Game of Thrones-fied but i think they look sooo cool, especially Hookfang, when i saw the live action trial of fire i think it solidified that what they were submitting Hiccup to do was ACTUALLY dangerous, especially how the made the Monstruous Nightmare ACTUALLY look like a nightmare, to the point i actually felt concerned for Hiccup, not saying the animation is a bum but it definitely conveyed more "monstruous" than what i remembered from the animation, especially since the animation was so light hearted (since it was a kid movie) and seeing Toothless GO FOR THE THROAT and allat battle made it seem like "oh we being real real here"

A fun detail i adored was that i found out that the person in charge (or involved idk) for the dragon designs was someone that had made dinosaurs for the Jurassic saga (which im also a fan of), and it made me realize why i thought the Deadly Nadder and Monstruous Nightmare mannerisms and looks reminded me of dinosaurs, Stormfly acted so much like a raptor to me, especially taking in consideration that raptors are ancestors of birds and the Deadly Nadders is based on a bird while being a reptilian like creature!🫶

And the Red Deathhhh was so epic, in my view they scaled her up more in comparison to the animation or simply they made that ilusion, but this design really made it terrifying and like an actual threat, if the rumours are true that HBO want to do Aegon's Conquest from ASoIaF series, Balerion MUST be around that size or even bigger if possible🤌

Finally i think its a me thing but im OBSESSED with this Hiccup, someone mentioned that even if they didnt change up how Hiccup was treated in comparison to the og, making it live action conveyed how harsh it actually was, and i think thats what make me IMO like this live action Hiccup over the animated one, unpopular opinion i know but i truly feel like that😭🤞

there is genuinely a big need for a conversation of "what for & why" the GPDA exists, amongst the drivers on the grid. i know they are privileged men, but they need to know the importance of a worker's union and it is unfortunate that there has been an increase of bullshit from the FIA since yk what. George has done his part for 2 seasons, alone, incredibly well, but the drivers seriously need to unite and cooperate well on matters that effects the sport, the athletes, and the fans. although i do believe Carlos is also a great choice for a GPDA director, it is sad to know that before Carlos chose to take the mantle along with George, no one else seemed to want to help.

Saw Thunderbolts (pirated) today and just as i had watched yesterday Farid Dieck's analysis of Captain America: The First Avenger and how he emphasized when Erskine tells Steve "The serum amplifies everything that is inside, so good becomes great; bad becomes worse." It perfectly teaches why John when they gave him the mantle of Cap by the government just because he passed the physical tests and whatnot would not be up to what Steve was as Cap, because Steve was not chosen for being the most physically capable, because he was far from that as we see in TFA, but for what he had in his heart, while the serum made Walker more of what he was (a loser idc what y'all say), Steve became an eternal symbol of what it truly means to be a patriot and i love him for that❤️‍🩹

And this also goes to show how Sam is so worthy of the mantle as well, yeah he might not be Steve down to a T, but he has the principles and values that a Captain America must have in order to fulfill those shoes.
