the life cycle of this buddie getting shut down in s4 theory is exactly what I meant when I said the fandom is queerbaiting itself.

people take a snippet of bts info that they have almost no context for -> extrapolate wildly -> the theory spreads, more stuff gets tacked on -> it spreads even further, now minus any context -> it gets ingrained into the fanon lore and treated as a fact -> ppl get their hopes up, then feel cheated if/when nothing comes of it.

in less than a day we’ve gone from oliver saying bi buck was pitched to him at some point in the last couple of years but got squashed by someone above him, to people saying that the shooting/will was definitely originally an explicit love confession.

To be clear we’ve no idea what that version of buck’s coming out would’ve looked liked. Hell, depending on how early it got scrapped, the writers might not know much beyond buck = bi.

and I’m not saying it’s not plausible (to a degree at least) but some of you are acting like oliver leaked a deleted buddie confession scene in 4k. When all he did was make a pretty vague reference to a storyline that never was.

It’s fine to speculate just please stop presenting it as if tim minear is in your dms.

Given the context of the interview, and that he was just asked about Buck being a "bi-con," Oliver was, I believe, talking about how Buck's sexuality was meant to be a thing years ago, and was shut down.

Not that BUDDIE was meant to be a thing years ago, and was shut down.

Now, if Buck were openly queer way before this, who knows how that storyline would have evolved?

“it was brought to me a long time ago” how long are we talking? was buck in love with eddie when he was clawing at the dirt, screaming eddie’s name until his voice was shot, collapsing in bobby’s arm sobbing in despair? or was it later? was buck in love with eddie when he watched his best friend get shot in front of him, was he in love with him when eddie told him about the will? was “because, evan. you act like you’re expendable, but you’re wrong” the closest he thought he’d ever get to eddie loving him the way he loved him? maybe later, even? breaking down eddie’s door to get to him, leaving his girlfriend behind to take care of his best friend because there’s no world where someone comes before him? maybe it was before all of that. maybe buck’s heart stopped seeing eddie in the locker room and restarted when their hands met, when eddie promised to have his back and then kept his promise. when he chose buck and kept choosing him. when he loved buck and kept loving him. really, what was buck supposed to do besides love him back?

About the AO3 "No Guest Comments for a while" warning

If you're not following any of AO3's social media accounts you might be in the dark as to what kind of "spam comments" have engendered this banner at the top of the site:

These spam comments have been posted about a great deal on the AO3 subreddit for the past couple of days. Initially they comprised a bunch of guest (logged out users) bot comments that insulted authors by suggesting they were using AI and not writing their own fics. Some examples, from the subreddit:

But it then escalated to outright graphic porn images and gifs being posted in comments, again by logged out 'Guest' accounts. Obviously, I'm not going to give examples of those, but between these two bot infestations, AO3 has clearly decided to act and has temporarily closed the ability to post comments for users who are not logged in with an AO3 account.

Unfortunately, this means that genuine readers who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to leave comments on fics that they enjoy.

If you are a genuine reader who doesn't yet have an AO3 account, I strongly suggest getting yourself on the waiting list for one. More and more AO3 authors are now locking their fics down to registered users only - either due to these bot comments or concerns about AI scraping their work - which means you're probably missing out on a lot of great stuff.

Hopefully guest commenting will be enabled again at some point soon, but I suggest not waiting until then. Get yourself on that list.

I think that anon is upset bc all of a sudden no one cares about buddie anymore bc bi buck is canon and that apparently means he needs to sleep with any man and that relationships have no sancticity anymore. It's bc of this type of "oh we just having some slutty fun" that Tim is not going to make buddie canon anymore bc people are happy with bi buck hooking up with anyone. After so many years of shipping buddie many "fans" have jumped ship and if they don't jump ship, they dip their toes into creating cheap threeways. It's upsetting

Buck discovering his bisexuality is NOT a consolation prize. It’s an important story that affects a lot of people and impacts even more. Not just from his journey for his sexuality but also the way he’s discovering it later in life. To act like such is disrespectful to the character and the bisexual community.

And what’s even more insulting is to call that exploration which involves uncommitted fun sex “slutty” in the tone of condemnation you are using. That’s called slut shaming. And if you cared about Eddie at all then you would care that he would be allowed to experience the same gentle space to grow like Buck is being given right now. If that hasn’t been a concern for you then you need to reevaluate if your “loyalty” is care or obsession bordering on fetishizing.

It is fine to not like Tommy. What is not fine is to be an asshole to people who do. You don’t see me going around leaving hate anon to people who like Brussels sprouts now do you?

You people have GOT to learn how to cope with things not going the way you initially planned for it. The world is full of unexpected outcomes. I am here because I am having fun and because I love these characters. If you aren’t having fun, I’m sorry but that is not mine nor anyone else’s problem but your own. Take your temper tantrum somewhere else because I will not hold your hand through it.

I have quite literally written over a million words for buddie. I have thousands more planned. But what characters I like and how I explore them is up to nobody but myself. I write for me and I choose to share this gift. You have the choice to not read it. What you don’t have a choice in is what I do with my life and my fun. For me that’s exploring Buddie, Bucktommy, and the magnificent Throuple that is BuckTommyEddie.

Be upset if you must though I would urge you to try and live a little. But what you don’t get to be upset about is me not sharing in those feelings with you.

You’re not upset about Buddie. You’re upset because the world is an uncontrollable place and it’s not revolving around you.

The fact that it was Tarasenko who responded to Tony's "I want a loser's jersey" is hilarious because at the time, Tarasenko was their best player (he plays for the Florida Panthers now).

A couple of years ago when the Blues won the Cup, literally everyone on Twitter was following Tony's account of the playoffs. It was awesome.
