Here’s Taiko’s Magical Girl Transformation theme! Every magical girl needs one of these, don’t they?

The inspiration here is pretty blatantly obviously Sailor Moon, but mixed with Taiko’s own theme - and a drumline mimicked from Knuckles Chaotix, which, amusingly, is nearly identical to the one in Sailor moon (and a lot easier to sound out by ear!)

Hang in there, cos there’s just a little bit of MotM Music left to come!

Have a new MotM track! This time, it’s the fight theme of Ham Throats, the insecure but hopeful Tabaxi Bard I play in @magicofthemundane, a DnD podcast with a twist!

I tried to paint a picture of ham’s combat style with this tune, with a sneaky, madcap jazz conundrum that explodes into a sudden, calming dream for his foes that lasts several turns…until Ham has to wake up the allies he knocked out too.

The inspiration for this one came from a numerous jazz arrangements with a little bit of the breakbeat insanity of sonic rush tracks like “mirage road” thrown in for good measure, with the dreamy nature-y goodness as a halfway between Sonic Jam’s museum tune and Willie Nelson’s cover of Rainbow Connection.

I had to ask Tom to be sure, but Ham has a violin! It’s even present in his main theme, also composed by Tom himself! You should give it a listen here!

“Weapon Frieeeeeennndssss~”

Taiko Hinode is an upbeat, hyper-energetic 14-year old schoolgirl with a double life; with a little help from a mysterious magic tome she found at a concert, she transforms at night to fight cultists and monsters, keeping her identity a secret by donning a magical girl uniform. Years of fighting off monsters and cultists have made Taiko an incredibly capable and skilled fighter, both in physical might and magical capability.

Taiko is an orphan, with no real family to speak of, which has made her very self-reliant and independent. Balancing vigilante crimefighting and schoolwork would prove difficult for most, but Taiko takes it in stride. For some time, she’d simply walk into school ludicrously early in the morning after crime-fighting, and sleep on her desk until class started. Thankfully, she’s now lodging with her classmate and fellow adventurer, Ophelia Price.

Despite her seemingly limitless energy and combat skill, Taiko’s weakness is in her bombastically blunt personality. Taiko is emotion-blind, and says whatever’s on her mind, often very loudly, regardless of what situations might arise due to this. On top of that, she’s a terrible liar, often making things appear worse than the truth she attempts to hide as her imagination runs wild.
