Actions

(heart) Get active within your community!

Start organizing. Grow a diverse, knowledegable, and loving group of motivated people.

Participate in mutual aid! Help out a friend, organize fundraisers, trade, unionize, etc.

(heart) Keep yourself educated on current happenings, and learn the history of your causes!

(heart) Use what you have, or fix/make what you can. Accept gifts and support from others! Go thrifting if needed

(heart) Add a "give & take" cabinet to your neighborhood. Fill it with essentials, clothes and food

(heart) Speak up for what you believe in! Let your voice be heard!

Create art, protest, rally, send postcards + leave voicemails + make calls to your representatives for change.

Back cover: The rich are getting richer while the poor get poorer, and ingrained in many of us are destructive, unhealthy thinking patterns that our capitalist society has taught us. With time and patience, they can be unlearned.

Cultivating hope in yourself is the most radical thing you can do.

Small artists you need to understand that when you see an artist who you think has 'made it' tells you not to worry about the numbers and to not fret about getting more likes than reblogs they are not telling you it because they think you are stupid for caring or because they dont need to network to survive they are very likely telling you that because they have witnessed first hand the way the numbers game tears people to shreds in terms of mental health and motivation

I just found out about the existence of orchid bees! What can you tell me about them?

sure! orchid bees are weird tiny shiny solitary bees that spend their time pretty much like all solitary bees do, hunting for nectar and trying not to get eaten by birds.

but when a female orchid bee is selecting from her bouquet of suiters, she really only has one thing in mind- his smell!

the smelliest males are the most attractive to her, for god only knows what secret bee reason, so accordingly the male bees spend pretty much all their time finding things with strong smells and then. rolling in them.

this does include pleasant things like flowers, yes, but also some weirder stuff like fungi and tree sap. if they made an Eu De Bee it would probably smell pretty pungent to us!

not that they shouldn't do that. I am in favor of Eu De Bee

so a male bee healthy enough to range far and wide dunking his stubby little shiny butt in whatever smells interesting is what carries the day, for the females! she will mate with him and lay some eggs about it.

also they sleep suspended with their jaws clamped onto random shit, like this

no more cold and calculating i want warm and calculating. i want characters who use deductive reasoning to figure out whether their friend would like a wool or cotton quilt based off of their lifestyle, career, hobbies, and habits. i want "your nails are often chipped because you work for a law firm as a typist for this company which notoriously underbudgets their IT department, so ive bought you a keyboard cover that will not only prevent manicure damage but is also sensory friendly because I know you dislike certain clicking noises". i want characters who figure out their friends entire schedules and social battery levels just by examining who only use that info to know when the best time is to hang out with them. i want characters who create elaborate, supervillain level schemes just to get their hands on some collectible they know their best friend wants. most of all i want characters who do not use intelligence and reasoning skills as a reason to be cruel but as a means to be kind

Broken Pencil's virtual Canzine features creators from Canada, and around the world. I love these events because you can check out and support work from multiple indie creators, and only have to worry about one shipping fee. I'm always so impressed by the behind-the-scenes coordination that makes this possible! 

All my Now Recharging comics are going to be available at a discount from their usual prices in my online store, because everything will be in CAD instead of USD, and I'm not changing my prices! (Ah, our Canadian dollar.) Also they'll be able to ship to more countries than just Canada and the US!

Momiji Spring Market April 2024

Old friends SJ Khan and Matt Carter start a smuggling company in a post apocalyptic Florida where everything is illegal.

Time and Time Again - Ongoing

Every full moon, the rambunctious werewolf Steve is forced to time travel. To his dismay, circumstances require that vampire agent Adam keeps Steve from "destroying the entire universe" or whatever. Adam is putting his job and his life on the line for Steve, but despite their best efforts the two find themselves in mortal danger from Steve's uncontrollable abilities and from the unfathomable red tape of Adam's work, time and time again.
