brocedes as "the ghosts of beverly drive" by death cab for cutie (in doing this i learned that the song was written when the frontman for death cab was divorcing zooey deschanel and honestly with that knowledge i think it fits even better than i realized)(this is also my first ever web weave which i'm sure is obvious haha but good lord this takes so long? shockingly labor intensive and in the process i think i've now seen every photo and article and interview about these two which you can imagine has me feeling #awesome and not at all sick 2 my stomach)

I think. What's imperative is that Troy hasn't ever had to even begin to come to terms with his sexuality before the show specifically because of how like. Split his sense of self is. He's never Troy Barnes when he wants to kiss a boy. He's just... some guy. just troy. and just troy hasn't ever actually wanted to kiss a girl, but that doesn't make him gay, because he's not just troy, he's Troy Barnes. And Troy Barnes is a quarterback and prom king and Troy Barnes has a girlfriend and Troy Barnes doesn't daydream about kissing that cute guy in his physics class. just troy daydreams about it, but that doesn't fucking mean anything.

And then he gets to Greendale and suddenly he can't be just troy, because that's all he ever is. Troy Barnes doesn't exist here; he's not anything to anyone, and so he's always just troy. And just troy still daydreams about the cute guy in physics class, except for now it's the cute guy in his study group, and now it's his best friend, and now it's his roommate, and if he's gonna commit to this, if he's gonna commit to being just troy, he's gotta commit himself to this, too.
