Nope, you do not have to have anything done by then! Soft deadlines are just a mid-year deadline for people to aim for if they need a kind of arbitrary deadline. The collection does not close and there are no consequences for not finishing by the July or September soft deadlines.

Would I be able to post a work that I started previously but that isn't finished yet and that I will finish during the event? Or do they have to be fully created during the event? I have a few WIPs languishing that I was thinking of continuing and posting here (mostly stuff I wasn't able to finish in time for last year's deadline)

We're into Spring Training and the content is wack!! I am still ironing out some rule changes, but I thought I would give you a heads up of our schedule.

It almost exactly the same as last year's schedule, except the collection opens up for posting a month earlier, because some of you are incredibly fast creators.

And we had: 202 prompts; 114 fills; off the top of mod's head at least 7 different types of fills, including 4 different kinds of fanart; I lost track of how many teams but at least 10 + several original works; I don't know how many pairings or characters represented but it was a pretty wide variety across teams, all things considered.

We killed it this year! I'm so proud of all of you for getting involved, finishing works, trying new formats, taking risks with new kinds of art and writing, HAVING FUN, and generally making this one of my favorite prompt memes to run. I've had a blast all year with you and I think we are well fortified for the offseason.

In lieu of doing a round up post, I have one last little mod challenge for you all this year: read/view/engage with at least 10 works by December 31st. Bang that kudos button, leave a comment, and let the creators know what you think! Baseball RPF can be a quiet fandom when it comes to engagement and I'd love to see us show out for everyone who participated.

Please make sure your works are out of draft mode as well before then, there are a handful of works in moderation queue that are still in draft mode and I need to be able to check them before they get added. If we got 200 prompts and 100 works, I would go ham in real life! We're so close!!

Hi all - three things!

1. I am so sorry for how delayed I've been at getting things into the collection these past few weeks - the other fest I was running derailed my usual habit of checking the fest email every morning for new works in the moderation queue. Everything in the queue that is out of draft mode has been added. If you were waiting and took your work out of the queue because I was taking too long, feel free to add it again - it will be added. About works in the queue in draft mode, your work does need to be out of the drafts before it is accepted into the collection.

2. You have just over a month until our hard deadline and the collection closes for this year. I know many of you are hard at work on your last few works so I just wanted to call attention to that. If you do not finish this year - I'm planning on adding prompt for next year specifically for works from past years, since I've seen people talk about having trouble finishing their works from this and last year.

3. On the topic of next year - yes we will be back! I saw a bunch of new usernames in claims, prompts, and fills and I want to assure you we are not done with this. I have not looked at the MLB schedule for 2025 deadline dates yet but it will probably be very close to this year's dates. So if you're just joining us in the fall and feeling mild FOMO, we will be back in the spring.
