Hey there! Here’s another question about our birthday freckled boy :)

In the timeskip, how does he feel about invading Liberio? It could be about the invasion itself or about Eren himself. I think he’d worked nicely together with Jean, Connie and Sasha.

I genuinely think at first Marco seems to have it all together.

So all-together in fact, that he is playing damage control for the squad.

Marco is the one who finds the best time to ask a question that excites Hange. Marco is also probably the one who wrangles the crew when he can tell Levi is just a little too tired to handle it today.

He’s calming Connie down, helping him when he works himself up, when he spends too much time thinking about how much trouble Eren is causing them and starts turning too far into his anger. Marco is there as the voice of reason, as the one who hears all the worries and soothes them with acknowledgement and strait-laced logic.

He’s the one who notices when Sasha gets a little too serious during practice, talking strategy, he’s the one who wanders off for a few minutes and comes back with a spare plate of food, or a well-timed joke to make her laugh. He’s there to make sure that (while they’ve all had to grow up a little too fast to keep up with the war) Sasha doesn’t lose too much of herself.

Marco is there for Armin when the poor guy panics from the guilt of it all. Marco is the one who can tell from the look on Armin’s face that all he’s thinking is oh god why me? Why didn’t they just save Erwin? Why would anyone trust me over Erwin?! Marco is the one to lay a gentle hand on his shoulder and smile reassuringly, the one who spends the most time with him as they tinker with their gear and talk about Armin’s anxieties without the burden of ‘needing to be strong.’

Marco is the one who can balance the weighty conversations with Mikasa about both her worry for Eren, and her concern for her friends. Marco is the only one Mikasa tells about the small pocket of guilt she feels, knowing her loved-one is the person causing so much concern amongst their squad.

And for Jean? For Jean, Marco is all of the above. The guilt, the anger, the confusion, the anxiety, the bone-deep tiredness that leeches into him after every long meeting discussing tactics and logic. It’s all there, and Marco is the one who’s best at supporting Jean through it.

It’s a lot though. It’s so much that Jean tries to turn the worry back on Marco. Jean is the one digging to find some hiccup, some flaw, some sign that Marco is struggling and not just burying his head in the sand.

It comes to a head, Jean is bad with words, he’s probably a little too snippy and snarky when he demands an answer to the question of ‘how are you so calm right now?’

And Marco is honest. Because it’s Jean, and he can be honest with Jean.

Marco is solely fuelled by uncertainty. He doesn’t know if what they’re doing is right, and it’s terrifying. Everything they’ve done, everything they’ve fought for up until now has been black and white. They are the good guys. Their actions are difficult but it’s all been for the greater good.

He’s worried about Eren, sure, but he doesn’t know if what they’re planning is right. It’s furthering war, it will hurt people, it could be the wrong thing.

What they’re doing now? It’s a grey area. Marco hates not knowing. He’s hiding the angst and the confusion in what he knows best, and that happens to be helping others.

Wonder how Erwin felt signing like 104 death certificates for all the Scouts lost on one mission and then having to deal with Hange busting into his office, frothing at the mouth talking about how they desperately need a second venture outside to “just grab one of them really quick so I can take some samples please please please I’ll be on such good behaviour just let me at ‘em I’ll be so careful this time I’ll even let you name them if I catch one pleasepleasepleasecommanderpleaseletmeple-”

highly recommend the jeanmarco discord for all the ins and outs of jeanmarco drama LMAO. there's an AOT confessions blog that started a reckoning of ship wars/character hate. but the discord has pretty good explanations/receipts/and even more history about what/why this has been going on. side note: i don't think jeanmarco is all vanilla lmao

Plot twist: if anyone thinks anything is purely ‘vanilla’ then 98% of the time they don’t know it well enough.

There is flavour in everything, you just gotta look for it. Besides, vanilla as a flavour is lovely, go get a vanilla perfume it’ll change your life it’s so rich and sweet and - god I just realised how off topic I’ve traversed. I’m so sorry.

Hey! Since you were back for a bit, I’ll leave this question here (I finally know how to use the ask box).

If Marco lived (like in my other ask) and learned about that the king he wanted to serve is a fake, how would he react? Would he be please to know Historia is the rightful heir to the throne?

(Keep in mind that he’s in the scouts)

Hmm I think he’d be very supportive of Historia regardless, he’s such a positive, encouraging character that sees the best in people. I think he’d be one of the main people championing Historia, helping out and telling her she’d do an amazing job.

I think he could go one of two ways when it comes to finding out about the fake king:

1. Jaded, upset, needing a lot of time to process it and reevaluate his own motivations (with the support of realists and pessimists like Mikasa, Jean, Levi, etc.).

2. Rolls with it, lets his confidence in others like Historia and Erwin carry his mindset moving forward. Think “oh, this has all been a lie, but it means we have the opportunity to change and better support the people within our walls. At least with Historia as Queen we can start making actual changes!”

honest thoughts moment. i've been a jeanmarco all the way and with all the drama with that confession blog i actually didnt realized people are into toxic jean ships. i just find it weird but the said toxic shippers also make fluff headcanons while complain about loving ships like jeanmarco being boring? like theres this one user posting flojean stuff but canon jean hates floch. im so 🤔 i also dont want to start with the whole reijean drama too. its so yuck and messy. 🤢 and then one sided jeankasa is sweet but one sided jeanmarco is bad?? 😑 my point is they hate us for being vanilla and sweet but all their ship headcanons are also vanilla and sweet stuff. its hypocritical. 👀👀👀 what do you think?

(Also I am a firm believer that vanilla is not a bad thing! Stereotypical romances are still cute, it doesn’t matter if they’re overdone tropes as long as they’re done well <3)

I think Marco would stand by Armin, looking in the water for shells and small fish, but I think he’d look up every so often and see Jean chasing Connie and Sasha around, doing stupid things like drinking sea water and getting sand in his clothing. Though I think Marco would smile to himself, fondly, gratefully. He’s pleased they made it here, he’s proud that Jean is someone so important in his life, and he’s happy that he still gets to see a real smile on Jean’s face every now and then, because they’ve all been through so much.

I also think Jean steals a glance of Marco pulling things from the water and excitedly talking to Armin about them. I think Jean reddens and his hesitance for the new environment is swallowed by the flushed, lovesick look he gets in his eyes when he watches Marco in the sunlight. I think Jean gets distracted from whatever him, Connie and Sasha were doing (no doubt something questionable) and ends up staring listlessly at Marco, admiring how prominent his freckles are in the sun.

It doesn’t last long, obviously, because Connie & Sasha start throwing sea cucumbers which terrifying and then Eren distracts everyone by being dramatic and glaring at the ocean mumbling about ‘enemies’ and ‘ending wars’ like a lunatic.

Here’s a new question for @marcobodtlives since it has been a long while.

What are your thoughts if Jean and Marco had the chance to see the ocean together? What would Marco’s thoughts on it be?

And would he be confuse if he saw Jean drink the sea water? 😂
