Missing Out
Author: OkobojiOddOne Word Count: 141,235  Characters: Pretty much everyone (post Frank Burns) is in this fic. However it mainly features on Margaret and Hawkeye. Pairings: Hawkeye/Margaret, BJ/Peg Rating: CA Rated ’T’ on ff.net
Author’s Summary: “Their actions in that abandoned hut will lead to something they didn’t expect. How will everyone cope with it and what will happen to them when Margaret has to leave? VERY H/M!”
Personal Opinion: A stunning multi-chapter fic! The sub-plots are perfect and I can’t praise this fic more. We also get to ‘meet’ most of the family members of the 4077th gang, which is strangely satisfying. I can’t recommend this fic enough.

Why We Said Goodbye
Author: HM Writer Word Count: 39,755  Characters: It’s set post-war so mainly features on the protagonists - Margaret and Hawkeye. Colonel and Mrs Potter are frequently in the fic and from what I can recall the other 4077th characters are mentioned. Pairings: Margaret/Hawkeye, The Potters. Rating: Rated ’T’ on ff.net.
Author’s summary: “Margaret gets an unexpected phone call from someone”
Personal opinion: My second favourite M*A*S*H fic, beautiful plot and well written. It’s heartbreaking and adorable at the same time.

I've written a mash fic but i don't know where to post it????
well, there’re some options! The best one these days is to go on AO3 and post it there, then you can share the link anywhere you like and people can easily search for it and find it.
Of course you also could post it directly on Tumblr as a text-post if it’s not that long, though the chance of being randomly found by somebody are way smaller.
Then there’s still livejournal or other platforms like it, though I don’t recommend this version.
Or fanfiction.net, but it’s a bit of a pain in the ass to upload a fic there.
I’d always suggest AO3, it makes most sense for fanfics, it’s a well structured site and it’s most commonly used. ;)
But first of all, congratulation on the fic and thank you for writing!

Everyone’s a Stranger
Everyone’s a Stranger
Author: Leigh B. and Meredith Bronwen Mallory Word count: ~16.000 Characters: Hawkeye, BJ, Frank, Potter, George Pairings: BJ/Hawkeye Rating: PG-13  Authors tags: homophobia
Summary: When a familiar face returns to the 4077th in the form of a wounded soldier, BJ is forced to examine his friendship with Hawkeye, himself, and his place in the camp. Otherwise known as “The Return of George”.
Personal opinion: This fic is beautifully written with deep introspection into BJ’s mindset as he considers what exactly his feelings are toward Hawkeye. The kind of fic that makes you ache, not just for BJ but for all the people left questioning themselves, and all those meant to feel wrong because of their sexuality. The authors also really have the banter between Hawkeye and BJ downpat, which isn’t easy to pull off.

reblogging also here because this, too, is a thing this blog is about. Don’t forget to also give credit on the source platform after possibly reblogging it, not every one’s on tumblr. Thank you for reccing sharing and crediting!
Hi, I'm a M*A*S*H fic writer (I'm not going to say who, since I'm not here to pimp my stories) who remains semi-active in the fandom but am not on Tumblr. I just want to respond to the convo about readers who want really long fics. I don't think I'm only speaking for myself when I say this, either. We writers write and post fics, whether long or short, and then get practically NO feedback of any kind. Hang on, to be continued...
Continued… Yes, I can see that my fanfics are getting hits, but if there is no interaction with the readers, then there isn’t much motivation to write more. Writing a really long fic takes patience, time, and dedication, and then to get nothing in return? That’s frustrating. Maybe I’m not the only writer who feels this way, and I hope you guys get the long stories you want to read. But I had to tell you my perspective, as a longtime writer in this fandom. Feed the writers if you can–it helps.
Hello dear, precious anon.
I want to thank you very much for this great elaboration! It’s true that most people don’t often do comment on fics, be it because of being stressed, too “lazy” or even out of anxiety.
And then there sure are some who don’t really realize how huge a credit a comment is to most writers. We forget, all the time. Way too often I just underestimate the possible weight of my comments myself and the (fully  legitimate) craving of writers for appreciation - after all, you really earn it.
You guys are not just writing out of pure pleasure for yourself, but you also try having in mind the wishes and likings of your readers. The only thing you get for it are comments - and way too often that’s missing.
I personally think, reading this issue written out by an actual writer themself, like you are, can help remind a lot of us out there to approve of your work way more in the future. I really hope people will, ‘cause - again - you all totally deserve this appreciation and feedback!
Thank you for contributing your craft and artwork to all of us and for being open and earnest.
And to all of you readers out there - please think about this when reading a fiction next time and take a little time to give your credit. No one expects you to write a 500 word long and grammatically perfect review, it doesn’t matter if you can’t phrase your thoughts and feels on it that vividly or in flawless english, just say something. The message will get across any way.

Author: hippiechick2112 Word count: 65k Characters: Klinger, Hawkeye, Trapper, Frank, Margaret, Radar, Colonel Blake Pairings: N/A Rating: CA Authors tags: N/A Authors summary: This is Maxwell Q. Klinger reporting, head writer of the newly published MASH NOTES, a weekly camp newspaper. Feel free to subscribe and read and write for it, but it will cost you. Read more for pricing and news. Personal opinion: Just a really fun collection of their weekly camp newspaper. If you just want a nice, easygoing fic to laugh at, this is a good one.

Runaway Train Author: aura218 Word count: 3160 Characters: Benjamin Franklin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce, B.J. Hunnicutt Rating: MA Authors tags: Angst, Friendship, Non-Graphic Violence, Standalone, episode-related Authors summary: When worse gets to worst, and who’s left standing with those who remain. AU for “Comrades in Arms.” Standalone – NOT gentleman doctors. No graphic rape/violence. Personal opinion: I admit, usually when reading sexual content even if it’s non-con it is meant to be arousing. Porn, that’s it. This thing here’s nothing but serious business, it addresses the actual subject of rape in war zones. The authors approach to it is very sensitive and earnest while doing a good job on keeping everyone in character and realistic. I read it a few times now and I can’t help but recommending it, it’s well written and aura218 managed to neither getting overdramatic nor stereotypical. Good job, good story!

Sins & Virtues Author: Jane Carnall Word count: ~138,000 Characters: Hawkeye Pierce, Francis Mulcahy, BJ Hunnicut, Peg Hunnicut, Trapper John, lots of originals Pairings: Hawkeye/Mulcahy, with references to Hawkeye/Trapper and hints of Hawkeye/BJ Rating: NC-17 Authors tags: none Authors summary: None I could find – but it begins with an encounter between Hawkeye and Mulcahy in Korea and spins out the consequences of that encounter after they leave Korea and return home.  Personal opinion: It’s very difficult to write convincing material of this nature about Mulcahy, which I guess is why there’s probably so little of it. This sets the gold standard as far as I’m concerned. You like angst? It’s got angst. This doesn’t dust the whole “Mulcahy being a priest” thing under the rug like your feel-good fluff pieces tend to do (not that there’s anything wrong with those) – there are very real consequences to that, and a lot of heartache. I love her characterizations – her Hawkeye is juuust needy and manipulative enough to be a little creepy without losing any of his charm or goodness; her Mulcahy-in-a-relationship is very much like you would expect a middle-aged man who has never been in a relationship to be – frequently his behavior is weird and frustrating. The story is a real page-turner; I just kept reading it and reading it because I was so desperate to find out what would happen next. If Hawkahy is your thing, do yourself a favor and read this.

Captive Hearts Author: nonamouse Word count: 522 Characters: Frank Burns, Benjamin Franklin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce, Trapper John McIntyre Pairings: Trapper/Hawkeye Rating: CA Authors tags: Voyeurism Authors summary: Trapper and Hawkeye make out while Frank is trapped under a bunk. Personal opinion: A very short but well written ficlet. Franks POV is hilarious and the story’s style fits the show

The R&R Files Author: Todash Word count: 4,330 Characters: Benjamin Franklin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce, B.J. Hunnicutt Pairings: BJ/Hawkeye Rating: CA Authors tags: none Authors summary: A collection of short, unrelated one-shots that all have one thing in common: the boys are on leave. Oh wait, two things: they're all slash: B.J./Hawkeye. Updated with ficlets 4 and 5 - now complete. Personal opinion: If your guilty pleasure, like mine, is Hawkeye/BJ slash – you really ought to be reading this author. They have written over 50 (!) stories on the theme, including one with 117 (and counting) one shots. There is also a very interesting story about Trapper and Hawkeye. I wouldn't say it’s an entirely realistic portrayal of what it would have been like to be gay in the 1950's and Peg and Erin are very understanding in most stories – kinda unbelievably so. But still the stories are cute and fun, not too graphic about sex and there is enough angst to make it interesting.

The Dawn Don’t Rescue Me No More Author: epigone Word count: 14,105 Characters: Benjamin Franklin ‘Hawkeye’ Pierce, B.J. Hunnicutt, Sidney Freedman Pairings: None Rating: CA Authors tags: Series Finale, Psychotherapy Authors summary: At home, before the war, his job had been to transform pain. Now he could only give it back. Personal opinion: A very real, emotional look at what we didn’t see of Hawkeye and Sidney during GF&A. These fic will slowly take you apart, and only put you part of the way back together again. Written from Sidney’s POV (though not in first person), and obviously full of spoilers for the finale.

For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her Author: rosiesbar Word count: 29,052 Characters: Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce, B.J. Hunnicutt, Original Characters Pairings: None Rating: CA Authors tags: Post-War, 1950s, Mental Health Issues, Mental Institutions, Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism, Unplanned Pregnancy
Authors summary: It’s the spring of 1954. As Hawkeye struggles to readjust after returning to Crabapple Cove, he receives a letter that may turn his life around. The news takes him to San Francisco, and with BJ at his side, he goes in search of answers. But instead of the fresh start he dreams of, he and BJ uncover a dark, hidden world and begin to realise that they may have walked away from one war, but a thousand others are raging on. Personal opinion: A heatbreakingly beautiful look at the reality of being pregnant out of wedlock in the 1950s. Everything about this fic is perfect, from the characterisation to the setting. But be warned, it will probably make you cry.
