why be confident?
how can we be confident with who we are? if we know that the world is frought with anguish and despair, that the world is inherently against us as we fight for social justice and against the perils of capitalism, heteronormativity and imperialism .... then knowing that we live in a world that oppresses us and disrespects us mean that surely we’re on the right track. be confident in being on the margins. be confident that you are resisting and that your forms of resistance are being recognised and being attacked. be confident because of the fact that you are creating meaning, and are combating against the tide rather than becomign swept up in it like everybody else.

BE in the moment
we need to learn to LIVE in the moment and BE PRESENT in the moment. the future can wait, what matters is the NOW. and since being is multiplicity, we dont have any idea what the future will hold. so BE in the moment - and also: don’t photograph the moment. photographing the moment means we cant capture a moment in its entirety. its sort of like we’re saving part of the moment for later, and then we look back on it but cant reclaim this moment again in its entirety. the point is to keep creating new moments that will stay in our minds and embed deeply. a photograph distorts and distracts from these living experiences. the full story is only told in the moment

the end game?
before I just wanted love, and only love. i thought it was the be-all and end-all. but ive come to realise that while finding love is important, its not the only think we should want. i want much more - a changed and transformed world. this is our unhappy consciousness - something that drives us to want something more and something bigger, together and with a shared spirit between others.

Quote
“The radical, committed to human liberation, does not become the prisoner of a 'circle of certainty' within which reality is also imprisoned. On the contrary, the more radical the person is, the more fully he or she enters into reality so that, knowing it better, he or she can better transform it. This individual is not afraid to confront, to listen, to see the world unveiled. This person is not afraid to meet the people or to enter into dialogue with them. This person does not consider himself or herself the proprietor of history or of all people, or the liberator of the oppressed; but he or she does commit himself or herself, within history, to fight at their side.”
Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed
