this is the funniest question you cldve asked bc basils backstory is very fucking nebulous. it used to be !!! really stupidly tragic but in a kid way where i was like yeah he lives in the woods by himself yuuup thats right. this is a sustainable way for a child to live

the newer version has never been super nailed down but the tragedy is sustained in one way or another. his parents are not really in the picture and he moved to halfway point to live with his grandmama. she is an old woman who works at the town's library. they love each other very much! basil is a good caretaker for things his grandma's not physically able to do anymore while she is very good at accommodating him and encouraging his weird eccentricities. she grew up in halfway pt after all, she's bound to be a strange woman herself :3c

I commissioned my dear friend @memewife to draw his version of Akira and Akechi from my RWBY AU series and the path that we've taken will lead us. I could not be more pleased with how it turned out, I especially like how he interpreted Akechi's weapon Locksley.
