[Album of the day] Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Tarkus
1971 || London, ENG
[Genres] prog rock
[Thoughts] What do you mean you haven't ever listened to Tarkus?
The first half is one of my favorite prog movements ever,* but I find the second side of the album goes a wee bit underrated. Perhaps my favorite is "Bitches Crystal" but I have a fondness for the heartfelt call to atheism ("The Only Way"), and I'm pretty much alway ready for Eddy.
The full dust jacket is worth a look. William Neal's artwork is imaginitive and chronicles the story of Tarkus. Someday I'd like to try my hand at modelling an armadillo tank after the very fella.

* Though it's Terrapin Station what's tatted to my calf. Robert Hunter was a genius lyricist, classics translator, and a personal inspiration of mine.

Lo do I awaken from hermetic slumber, ready once more to hedonistically assail the cyber realms with music most foul. Don thine slutty wedding dresses, for a great evil stirs in the Midwest and I must share its power.

Warmoon Lord - Sacrosanct Demonopathy
Black Metal from Lahti, Finland
The stage thus set, WARMOON LORD make lateral developments with all-important third album Sacrosanct Demonopathy. On the surface, the foundation is largely the same - pure & proud black metal of a most fantastical nature, even “medieval,” but always burning with that icy-hot passion that so fired the second wave during the mythical 1990s - but there’s a wider canvas of textures and emotions at play here. The songwriting fires on literally all cylinders - truly, variety is not a dirty word in this context - with each of these eight tracks (QUICKLY) moving in myriad directions, but ones that are increasingly complex and even cathartic; it’s not difficult to imagine castle spires continually ascending, so cresting and climactic are Sacrosanct Demonopathy’s component songs. What’s more, the crisp & effervescent recording heightens the nightsky melodicism to a point where it almost feels paradoxically “bright” - but with stained-glass synths winding in and out of those spires, the darkness widens again and devours the listener in a purple haze.
1. Warpoems & Tragedies 04:23 2. Invoking the Retribution Eidolon 04:29 3. A Hungering Yoke 05:21 4. Tartaros Offering 07:48 5. Uncreation's Dragon 07:21 6. His Enigmatic Ways 05:48 7. Daemonic Supremacy Enthroned 04:45 8. Torch of Magickal Arte 03:14

why did ppl decide punk only means things that are good and that i like instead of just treating it as a word for a subculture like why does everything have to be punk for you. well i know why its so they can put this like counterculture and anti establishment flair on every stupid thing they do online instead of going outside n actually doing something to benefit a community. which they would still call punk if they did it

Color study: Blue
These two minis were painted two years apart. Both were studies in painting a monochromatic blue scheme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ann, the battle nun from Zombicide: Black Plague by CMON miniatures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A kitbashed Necromunda Escher by G*mes W*rkshop, now a Reb Sphyr Lancer in Mantic Games's Deadzone.
The original Escher head fucking popped off, what you're gonna do? I replaced it with an Ice Naiad head from Kings of War. I actually prefer the substitution, I wanted to mix an alien into the pluralistic cadre of femme fatale.
The bronze metal is the same recipe described in the orange post (a mix of complementary colors), just used in a different scheme. I really like the effect.
I was feeling lazy by the time I got to this gal, so pretty much all the blue on the model is the same hue. Just another lesson in putting the right colors in the right places (mentioned in yellow).
I don't have a ton more to say. The little burst of blue gas has broken off like three times already. Ann became one of my favorite heroes after I painted her, she was when I first realized I enjoyed painting NMM.

Color study: Purple
The following minis were painted two years apart, both studies on a monochromatic purple scheme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baldric, from CMON miniature's boxed game Zombicide: Black Plague.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A slightly kitbashed Necromunda Escher by G*mes W*rkshop, now a sniper for the Rebs (and occasionally the GCPS) in Mantic Games's Firefight and Deadzone.
Baldric was always my favorite of the ZBP heroes, nicknamed "the Cannon" for his late-game capacity to shell zombies with an onslaught of ranged spells, upwards of six shots a turn if you play it right.
This sniper is a reflection of her lover, featured in my yellow color study. Both utilize a purple-yellow complementary color scheme, as the two colors oppose each other on the RYB color wheel. Here yellow takes a backseat to the dominantly purple hues, only featured in the skin tones and the gold headset.
This is another Escher with a custom, extra-thick ass courtesy of greenstuff. I love curvy women and I loathe painting the random bullshit details that GW insists on tacking to every surface.
I'm not as satisfied with this sniper, as I feel I've underhighlighted her hair and boots. Sometimes you just have to call it, though; perhaps I'll be inspired to touch up her details soon. I do enjoy the metal; purple is a useful hue for injecting color into both black metal and grey steel.
Thanks very much for checking out my artwork. Please feel free to send me any questions about my painting process or the game I play, I'm happy to chat some more. One love.

[Album of the day] Lipphead - In The Nude
2022 || Brooklyn, NYC || Young Heavy Souls
[Genres] trip hop, electro funk
[FFO] I Monster - Neveroddoreven
[Thoughts] Ah man we haven't talked about Lipphead yet?
This is the collab between producers Blockhead and Eliot Lipp and I listen to this album perhaps too much. Chill and chock-full of ear worms.
In The Nude reminds me of an old favorite, Neveroddoreven, in a number of ways. Not the least is a catchy track with a sinister twist. I refer to I Monster's The Backseat of My Car and Lipphead's D.I.A. I believe the latter to be in reference to Denver International Airport's* infamous statue, Blucifer, on account of it being unnecessarily creepy and having killed its maker.
o()xxxx[:::::::::::::::::> o()xxxx[:::::::::::::::::> o()xxxx[:::::::::::::::::>
* Denver International Airport's three-letter code is actually DEN. Fun fact.
