In mythology , the world is lifted up by some supernatural being on their shoulders. In Indian culture it is godess bhoomi while in Greek mythology it is the titan 'Atlas'. Since a kid I always wondered about the strength and resilience of them to carry so much weight and - what if it gets too heavy?
And then adulthood appeared in a heartbeat making me ponder that , human beings are in a way, Atlas or godess bhoomi carrying our own world in our shoulders. Maybe its this pain I feel with this world getting heavier and heavier day by day, asking myself everyday if i can put it all down and breathe for a day.
And I still wonder how ? :)

review on portrait of lady on fire
Tumblr media
since the technological revolution for the past few years and how AI impacted art, I always worried for art. How now even artists may lose their jobs! But now I realize its not possible
Because even though AI may help to art in many ways it can never fully contribute to art. As it lacks the human touch. Human soul. This thought came to me when I watched "portrait of a lady on fire."
For sometime, I have been feeling so dull and words that once defined my entire existence gradually felt distant. Like a colorblind person I have looked at the dull world and suddenly I saw all the colors. Its all thanks to this artistic masterpiece. If that is not what art is(bringing life to the lifeless existence) I wonder what is?
Anyone, even AI can create content. But to create art, you must pour your heart and soul into it. This entire movie felt like a painting. That's the beauty of this movie. The calmness, attention to the little details just makes the movie perfect.
Love always seemed to me as this one straight forward path thanks to pop culture. Either lovers stay and have the happily ever after or they split up and move on. There never seemed to be anything in between. Never seemed to question "what's then?" Nobody really seemed to question the aftermath of both endings because it ended so perfectly fine. Like a book with the perfect plot, perfect reasoning. But is that it? Is that all? Is it actually 'the end' ?
Both in "La La Land" and in this movie love doesn't seem so exact. Its messy and not easy. And it really does speak for how lovers still love each other even when they fall apart. The aftermath that was never questioned is depicted perfectly here. How Marianne and Héloïse still long for each other when the world dragged them apart. How Héloïse still turns 'page 28' after so many years, how Marianne still looks for a glimpse of her and how Héloïse cries listening to the music Marianne recommended years ago.
Apart from this perfection I would like to point out a single detail that I think makes this movie a chef's kiss. The reference to the greek tragedy "Orpheus and Eurydice" . I always wondered like sophie about "why did Orpheus turn back?" But metaphorically this movie gives an explanation for orpheus. As Héloïse replied maybe its because eurydice asked him to turn back. And in the seperation scene when Marianne runs away from her, she asks her to turn back. Wanting a glimpse of her to long for a lifetime. But the thing is its not just Eurydice that may have convinced orpheus to look back. Like how Marianne was convinced to look back. As Hozier sings "I'd be the dreadful need in the devotee That made him turn around"
Céline Sciamma did a marvelous job in creating this masterpeice of a movie. Though in ny opinion I kind of wished for more emotional bonding than physical bonding. But still it beautifully captured the theme of love and grief. And i would very much reccommend everyone to watch this amazing movie PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE (2019) dir. Céline Sciamma

Being a woman literally is like " ughh exhaustingg." while interacting with most men and "oh how I love being a woman" while interacting with most women.

The concept of who you are is not just who you are. You are a museum of all the people you have met, all the places you've been, all the memories of you.

home
If home is where the heart is
I wonder how many places and people we call home
In memories lie pieces of hearts
So how can home be one thing?

barbie asks 'do you ever think of dying?' from some happy girls with perfect lives. Meanwhile if she asked that from girls in real life we'll be like "oh my god yesss.Like literally everyday" and I think that's sad tbh.

The gods envy us. They envy us because we’re mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed
— Homer, The Iliad
But is it really beautiful to know that any moment is your last second? to leave Earth without telling them I love you? is it really pure Homer? We run everyday chasing trivial things like status, materialism up until to the point we forget that we are mortal. isn't it scary that, in the blink of an eye, we will leave Earth without knowing her at least a bit? without knowing love at least a bit? WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT IT IS LIKE TO LIVE?

so today my teacher was telling me about how the world is deteriorating because of moral issues. And he takes GENDER as an example of that. He said "I mean look at how genders are there? they are crazy" I don't know of all issues in the world almost everyone sees expressing what you want as a moral issue. I mean I also find all these genders confusing but I don't make everything about me. I might not understand but I respect their opinion. Even if I did make it about myself, their existence doesn't threaten myself or anyone in the world except some ego of shallow-minded people. I mean there are rapists out there who rapes at least a person per second. And there are murderers out there who murder a person per second. These are the real moral issues that threaten my existence, yet somehow wrong issues get prioritized at the end.

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose or topaz... I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul
Pablo Neruda
I looked up at the moon and saw her scars. Will we adore her if it wasn't for her scars? scars that add the inexplicable beauty to her?
scars, flaws, mistakes, sins, imperfections....
An entire vocabulary for such mysteriously beautiful things. To be human is to be flawed. And this modern day idea of perfect human being is just a (dumb fucking) myth. Its okay to have flaws, because really thats the definition of humanness. So can you love you for your flaws? Can you love him/her?

Watching barbie made me revisit the happy child who was obsessed with barbie dolls. I started to click a point then. When we played with barbie, she was the main character of our playtime and all we worried about was making pretty dresses for her. Its like every girls dream. To live a life happy while seen as beautiful and most of all while being the main character in their lives. And then real life happened. Its like beautiful doesnt even exist. its all demading and if we don't fit into the standards of beauty, we are seen as ugly. And worst of all girls have to live their life being a spectator of their own lives. I mean that's not what we want. Literally we want to be barbies. Lawyer barbie, president barbie...or even ordinary barbie or whatever. We just want to be who we are. Is that too much to ask in this world?

my dear lost souls,
I know life rightnow feels like a maze. every decision you make feels like regret and what if everything goes wrong and you will fuck up right? woah woah slow down bestie. take a deep breath. The theme that always calm me is "you are still young and you are still learning" so everytime you feel like lost and unconcious of what future holds, just let time do its thing. either if life succeeds or fucks up you will find a way to thrive. trust me. this is your life and also you are very young. so really its okay to do mistakes and learn from them. so just take a deep breath and do what feels right to you. Trust you and your life . Its not the end of the world if you find the path you are going sucks. there are thousand other paths you can take at any time of your life. So don't panic soldier, WE ARE YOUNG , THUS WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT LIFE YET.

yeah so like now everyone hates feminism right? Its all drama right? Well I guess feminism is something personal not always so chaotic and political. I guess with the help of feminism a lot of women have raised to a place better than 100 years ago. But we forget (as usual) we forget the women who shed their blood, sweat, tears for thism so now I see people saying stuff like "say no to feminism" yeah for you maybe. But there maybe a little girl who sees her father yell at her mother, beat her and think that is right There maybe a young boy who likes dolls and makeup thus, get mocked at and think his dreams are invalid. There maybe thousands who get raped and rapists will get no punishments. There maybe playboys who fuck around with feelings of women and still they will be justified as 'boys will be boys right?' So as I said its all personal. feminism is not always protests and yelling. sometimes silently a person is winning a battle such as getting a divorce, abortion, following a non gender stereotypical dream, etc which do not always get much publicity. So if you are a person who says no to feminism you just do not know the pain of gender based violence. So if you please , SHUT THE FUCK UP.
