Reflections on a Year of Reading Argentinian Literature
Books read Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez, Evita by John Barnes, Guillermo Saccomanno
To be honest of the 3 books that I read none of them was about Argentina's geography. But Argentina is a country located in South America, bordered by the Andes Mountains. Along the eastern coast of Argentina lies the Atlantic Ocean, providing the country with over 3,000 miles of coastline. The diverse geography of Argentina also includes subtropical forests, wetlands, and deserts, making it a country of incredible biodiversity. The land area is known for its rich soil and ideal conditions for agriculture. The Andes Mountains are also home to the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, Mount Aconcagua, which rises to over 22,000 feet above sea level.
Something that I learned from the book Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez was that you have to fight for your dreams. Fighting for your dreams is all about pursuing what you truly desire in life, despite any obstacles that may come your way. It requires determination, hard work, and perseverance to overcome any challenges that may arise " I could deal with anything but losing Pablo" In this quote Yamile is determined to do anything to keep his lover with her. I learned that being persistent is the most important thing when pursuing a dream/goal.  At the end when you finally achieve your dream you will feel happy " I'll hold your hand and run "This symbolizes how good it feels to fight and achieve your dreams.
I didn’t read any books regarding to foods but one popular dish is the empanada, which is a savory pastry filled with ingredients such as meat, cheese, and vegetables. Empanadas are often enjoyed as a snack or appetizer. One of the most famous traditions in Argentina is the Tango dance, It is often performed at traditional milongas, or dance halls, where couples come together to dance and socialize. The most common religion in Argentina is Roman Catholicism, with approximately 70% of the population identifying as Catholic. The influence of Catholicism can be seen in many aspects of Argentine culture, including holidays, traditions, and social norms.
From the book Furia by Yamile Saied Mendez I learned that no matter how many obstacles you have in your way you have to fight through to the end. Having obstacles in life just makes you realize how strong you can be. From the book Evita by John Barnes I learned that no matter how much money you have you always have to be yourself and don’t change for anyone else. From the book Guiller Saccomanno, I learned that life is hard but you have to keep going even tho your surroundings are the worst.
Something that I learned while reading these books was that no matter your nationality people will always suffer in their own ways. Having a family that loves you doesn’t always mean that you have a happy life. The outside doesn't always show the reality. Having a bad surrounding will get you to the point where you want to be like the people around you and in other cases it will make you want to change to a better version of yourself.
