MDSZ Name Meaning Explanations

Wow MDSZ has intricate naming: there are a lot of interesting meanings that fit very well with the characters!

One thing I realized when I researched names is that Chinese names, like Japanese names, are filled with a lot of nuances that have to do with the characters themselves and their role in the story. The character’s names subtly explain their roles and personality in the story.

These are the characters I noticed are the ones that don’t have a lot of posts about their names. I decided I am going to do a post on the characters whose name meanings are not much talked about in the fandom.

This post is heavily inspired by thisworldgodonlyknows who made a post explaining the meaning of the names from one of MXTX  works and what it has to do with corresponding with the characters.

MXTX’s names for her characters in her works seem to be chosen intuitively. This makes sense because the names she chooses have a lot to do with both the characters and their arc in the story.

I won’t be doing any explanations on Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, Jiang Cheng, and Jiang Yanli

because they already had more than enough metas on them. I’m not a Chinese speaker, so although I will explain my research to the best of my ability in this post, take it with a grain of salt.

A Xiyao amnesia fanfic idea that has been clouding my head

Short version: JGY saves LXC from a possibly deadly debris during Guanyin temple, but gets hurt and falls into unconsciousness. LXC has the top Lan healers work on him to heal JGY enough for a trial. When JGY does wake up, the last thing he remembers is LXC leaving for the war at the start of SunShot campaign....

Longer version:

Imagine if during the Guanyin temple, a debris or a statue  was falling toward LXC. JGY pushes LXC away but gets hit hard on the head, causing him to lose consciousness immediately.

LXC is faced with difficult decision due to the fact JGY saved his life yet again. Despite the loud protests (mostly from Sect leader Yao), LXC takes him to the best Lan healers who confirm of a very serious head injury, with possible chance of death or permanent damage. LXC promised other leaders a trial after JGY’s recovery.

JGY does wake up. But with memory loss. The last thing he remembers is seeing LXC off during the start of Sunshot campaign. (not live series compatible)

Despite the reassurance of the Lan healers and WWX of JGY’s sincerity in not remembering, LXC distrusts JGY fearing that he’s still being lied to.

JGY ends up in a place full of strangers, with his only friend acquaintance giving him a cold shoulder.

.....

...I’m still trying to work this out. I’m wondering if this would be a good time for a dark or angry LXC since our fandom lacks this. But I wonder if that would go to off from LXC’s character.  I would also like to see friendship between WWX and JGY. I always thought they would be grand friends.
