Its time to feed my worms. I feed them 3 times a week.

Feeding the worms is a very important step. You need to feed them almost daily so they will stay active and healthy. When you feed them always inspect the area where you feed them last. Some of the worms don’t move to the new feeding spot. And always change the spot where you feeding, that will make them more active.

How to feed the worms:

Worms don’t have teeth where they can bite and chew the food. After few years of raising worms and observing them. I came to the conclusion that they need all the help you can give them since you are benefiting from them. One of the things you can do to help the worms is to blend their food. Such kitchen scraps. Cut it very small or put it in a blender with a little water them run the blender. This will make their food very very small and will be easy for them to eat it. When you blend the food the worms will eat it faster and will produce healthy worm casting. And also multiplies and produce more eggs { cocoons }.

What is worm casting:

Worm casting is the worm poop. Any creature eats to live then poop. But worm poop or casting is very beneficial. It’s considered organic because worms want to eat anything with chemicals or they will die. So many farmers who plant and want to sell organic vegetables and fruits use worm casting to fertilize their fields.

Worm casting is organic fertilizer. It has all the nutrients and minerals plants need. As you water your plant becomes worm casting tea.

Worm casting is slow-release fertilizer and it will never burn the plant.

There are lots of worms in the forest. They eat composted material and feed the trees and other plants in the forest.

What to feed the worms:

I feed my worms compost made of cut grass, leaves, shredded newspaper, chicken manure, and kitchen scraps.

If I don’t have compost, I use my kitchen scraps to give it to them. But before I give kitchen scraps I blend it so it becomes very small for the worms to eat.

I also feed them grounded eggshells or grounded oyster shells.
