if your requests are open, can i get a sebastian sallow imagine (fem!reader and established crush on each other if you can) that takes place after the darkness takes over him at the end of HL where he feels bad for what he’s done (killing his uncle and casting crucio on reader) when reader decides not to turn him in? maybe reader keeping what he did a secret makes him realize he took her loyalty for granted and he shows remorse and keeps trying to apologize/make up for it but reader says “i understand what you did and why, but i’m not ready to forgive you yet” or something like that. i’ve had this idea in my head for a few days and don’t think i could do it justice and i absolutely love your writing 😊

“AVADA KEDAVRA!”
The two words had changed so much in a split second. In the blink of an eye, you had witnessed Sebastian go from the rebellious and cocky know-it-all to something so… unrecognizable. In all fairness, you had been warned countless times by Ominis that the path that Sebastian was walking was a dark and twisted one that many people had succumb to. Hell, you saw it in the pensieves during each of your trials. You were witnessing someone you truly loved change before your very eyes.
You remember it all so vividly. You see it every day when you close your eyes to rest. You saw it flash before your eyes when Ominis sent you the owl to meet him in the undercroft. As your footsteps rushed towards the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower, you heard your heart’s thumping in your ears. It was driving you mad. You opened the entrance to the undercroft, watching the two boys argue amongst themselves.
Ominis was visibly shaken, which he rightfully had a reason to be, but Sebastian was absolutely changed. In his expression, you could see the guilt that was absolutely starting to eat away at him. You could see his hair, which was normally combed so that his fluffy hair was not out of place, was completely shooting out in different directions. There were deep worry lines on his forehead as his eyebrows furrowed together with each of Ominis’ words.
“Anne just buried your uncle alone.” Ominis stated, but Sebastian’s words dripped in venom.
“I did it for her.” He replied, causing you to stop in your steps for a moment.
You pursed your lips together as you overheard the conversation, and soon Ominis took a step away as he passed by you. It was as if to tell you it was your turn to try and talk to some sense into Sebastian. You heaved a sigh, taking steps towards the twin, gave him a half-hearted smile to cheer him up.
“Sebastian-“ You began, but he ran his hands over his face and looked at you in disbelief.
“Did you hear what he said?” He asked with a scoff, beginning to pace slightly. He was panicked. You had seen the look on him before, but never to this extent. “You saw what happened, (Y/N)! I did this for Anne. I never wanted to hurt my uncle.”
“Sebastian-“ You attempted again, but he kept going on and on about his remorse and how things got out of hand.
That’s when he looked at you with a look you never wanted to see on him again. It was a look of pure desperation that was seeded deeply behind his dark irises.
“Talk to Ominis, he listens to you!”
You went to object, but he grabbed your hand in his. He was pleading with you silently, and although you were struggling with the events of Solomon Sallow, you still felt your heart begin to race at the touch.
“Okay.” You stated as you squeezed his hand in response.
His shoulders relaxed slightly, and you turned on your heels to go towards where Ominis expectantly waited for your status report. He himself looked stricken with grief. He had direct contact with Anne., and you were thankful that she had some sort of person to speak with; but as Ominis spoke he mentioned how Anne partially wanted Sebastian to face the consequences of his actions.
“Ominis, what good would that do at this point? He regrets it all. All of that along with the fact that Anne has lost her health, then her uncle, do we really want to take Sebastian as well?” You asked, your hands moving as you spoke. Your words were passionate and convincing, and you saw Ominis nodding his head along with your argument.
“Perhaps you’re right.” He sighed; his pale eyes cast down towards the pavement. “Anne is already facing so much. I just hope we’re right about this decision.”
There was a beat, and suddenly there was a shift in the air.
“How are you in all of this?” Ominis asked, causing you to go rigid.
That was the question of the century, wasn’t it? You were still trying to figure out ways to contain a dark ancient magic, but now your best friend had done something vile.
“I’ll be fine.” You stated simply, shrugging your shoulders. The words sounded weak and unconvincing, and you knew Ominis would pick up on it easily.
“I know you care about him… different than I say I would care.” Ominis stated, causing you to laugh nervously in response.
“Ominis don’t be-“ But you stopped, knowing that nothing you say could hide the truth.
The boy you were beginning to fall in love with had killed someone, and you had witnessed every single moment of it. As a matter of fact, you assisted him in getting to where you got because you would do anything to help him.
“I have a lot on my plate, and I think maybe Sebastian shouldn’t be on it for some time.” You admitted aloud, the words causing an unseen wound in your heart to sting.
Ominis sighed at the words, but it was a knowing sigh of agreement. The three of you had a lot of healing.
***
Months had passed since that conversation, and you were in the full swing of grieving. You had successfully saved the wizarding world, but your mentor had lost his life. You also had not so subtly been avoiding Sebastian to focus on your O.W.Ls. Ominis had been a great help in trying to keep you grounded, and you had even been studying with Poppy and Natsai. You had a great support system, but throughout the months you were cornered by Sebastian.
He would apologize, and you would just reply with ‘I know’ before going on your way and resuming your avoidance. It was dreadful. You craved to go back in time and erase all the wrongdoings to erase all the complications in each of your relationships, but you couldn’t do it. Yours and Sebastian’s dynamic had changed.
That didn’t stop him, though. He would write you owls, try and talk to you at the end of classes, and try to sit with you at the Great Hall; but you gave him a cold shoulder. It was driving him crazy, but he didn’t give up. He finally just walked up to you as you spoke to Poppy, grabbing your hand and dragging you towards the Undercroft.
“Sebastian!” You exclaimed, your legs trying to keep up as he dragged you to your old meeting spot.
He didn’t stop, continuing to bring you with him as you weaved through students who gave the two of you odd looks. You were mortified, but as soon as the two of you got into the Undercroft, you crossed your arms over your chest in disbelief.
“You know, I was in the middle of a conversation before you rudely dragged me away!” You scoffed, waiting for him to conjure some form of an explanation.
“I don’t care!” He yelled in response, his mouth curling into an angry smile. “You have been avoiding me. It has been exhausting! I’m drowning in the reality of my actions, (Y/N), and all I want to do is sit with you here in the Undercroft reading books and trying to go back to a semblance of normal. I’ve told you hundreds of times that I apologize, and I FULLY mean it.” He rambled, beginning to pace as he did.
You were torn internally at the words he said. You wanted what he wanted, of course you did. When you two spent time alone there was never a dull moment. Sebastian would make you laugh and show you so many secrets in Hogwarts to expand the love you had for being in the school, but you were not someone to ignore the pain that his actions caused. That pain had only grown since the events under Hogwarts. You had a job to protect the ancient magic. He knew that.
“Sebastian, I understand what you did. I GET why you did it, but I’m not ready to forgive you yet.” You said with a sigh, sitting on one of the crates that were piled in the room, and Sebastian’s mouth frowned. “I must sit here and not tell anyone what I saw! You used an unforgiveable curse, and although you did it in a moment that got very out of hand, you still used it. That wasn’t the you that I know.”
Sebastian sat beside you, his hands resting on his lap as he glanced over at you. It was although the gears in his head were turning. They were processing your words, and it took quite some time. For what seemed like eternity you sat in silence, but it was only a few minutes.
“You were someone who was so loyal to me.” He finally spoke, causing you to turn your head to face him. He met your gaze, and you took your bottom lip between your teeth in anticipation for him to continue. “I took it for granted and kept pushing us toward a dangerous and impossible goal. I lost my uncle, my twin…” His voice trailed off as there was a crack, but he cleared his throat and pressed on. “I don’t know what happens if I lose you too. (Y/N), I…”
His mouth froze, and quickly shut before finishing the statement. Although he didn’t finish, you had an inkling of what he was going to say. The tension in the room was growing thicker, and you felt your eyes struggling not to well with tears.
“Me too, Sebastian. I feel that way too.” You assured, placing a hand on his, giving it a squeeze. “Just give me some time… I just need a bit of time.” You assured, nodding your head.
His mouth turned to a somber smile, moving the hand that you were touching so that he could give yours a squeeze.
“I can wait. I will wait until the end of time if it means you and I can be something again.”
It brought you some comfort to know that he listened. Maybe one day the two of you could be something. One day.
