Thus the Epic Fandom was born! Using their one shared neuron, Odysseus glazers, Polites babiers, and Eurylochus bashers have dedicated their lives to fighting against obvious facts and their English teachers.

Yeah reposting another one of my tiktok rants cuz not everybody follows the tiktok (you totally should @/inconven1ence.st0re) and I wanted this rant here too so here we go.

Hey, do me a favor, never have an opinion again. Go sit in the corner and think about the ridiculousness of what you just said.

Okay so lets say the wind bag is closed, we beat temptation and we’re good… except we still got Poseidon on our ass who i’d argue is 1000x worse than the damn wind bag. Whats your 5000 iq plan now genius? Poseidons still pissed off so what we boutta do?

The root of all the problems stemmed from the cyclops. You can swear up and down until the cows come home that everything was Eurylochus’s fault with the wind bag but it wasn’t. It was the cyclops. They wouldn’t even need the wind bag if they hadn’t messed with the cyclops. I can’t believe I even have to state that but a good piece of this fandom only has one working neuron and they use it to make terrible takes.

The fandom actually thinks Polites was just Odysseus’s number one ass kisser. Yes, he was his best friend, and he cared for him greatly, but that doesn’t mean he’s just gonna go along with everything Odysseus says.

You don’t think Polites would have shown resistance? His whole philosophy is “open arms”, do you think he’s gonna end all those sirens in Different Beast with a smile? You think he’s gonna pump his fist when Odysseus sacrifices six of their friends to Scylla? That he’s just gonna let Odysseus end Eurylochus?

If your answer is yes stay silent. Like forever.

People get on Eurylochus for pointing out Odysseus’s flaws but thats what friends do. Not to hit you with the cold water but its the truth. If you have someone in your life that doesn’t stop you when you’re about to do something reckless that is not your friend.

A stranger or a bad friend would mind their business and let you go do whatever. A true friend would pump the breaks and tell you when something is wrong. You may not like the criticisms but they come from a place of care. If Eurylochus wasn’t the one complaining it would be Polites, because they are BOTH Odysseus’s friends. Real friends don’t kiss the ground you walk on. They criticize you so you don’t do something stupid. This isn’t a hive mind. One guy making all decisions alone without any input is doomed to fail. A crew full of yes men is the worst crew you could ever have.

It also implies that Eurylochus and the crew did not care about Odysseus which is literally everything BUT true. They fought for ten years. They care about each other. They’re brothers which is why Eurylochus was always there to call Odysseus out when he’s talking stupid. Thats not him complaining, thats him being rightfully cautious. Sure he could have addressed those things privately but his worries still stand. Its not like Odysseus always had 1000 IQ plays.

Doxxing himself to the cyclops? Stupid.

Wandering into the wind gods home hoping they’d help with fingers crossed? Idiotic.

Going on nothing but hopes and dreams that Circe was just gonna give his men back when she’s 10x as powerful? Wrap it up.

If he wasn’t favored by gods he’d be cooked.

If no one said anything during storm and just followed Odysseus they would have all been dead. Simple as that.

Polites would have definitely rebelled against Odysseus or at least shown resistance in the thunder saga. Sure he may not do it with a smile but Odysseus is risking the lives of their friends, so he’d do what HE thinks is the best course of action to protect his remaining friends. Odysseus’s whole “monster” arc would definitely create a rift. Odysseus’s actions go directly against Polites’ moral code.

And since we’re on the topic of Polites can we not treat him like a child???

He’s a pacifist. Not a baby.

This isn’t exclusive to the Epic fandom but optimism and slight naivety does not equal childishness.

What did you think the crew was coming back from, Spring break? No it was war. They were coming back from war INCLUDING Polites. He wasn’t chasing butterflies he was fighting and killing. He’s seen the bloodshed. He has blood on his hands. So why are we acting like he’s never done anything wrong ever?

He died when he was thirty. Not three. Why are we acting like he’s not a hardened soldier who went through ten years of war like everybody else? He uses pacifism and optimism to cope with the trauma. He may not be a fan of violence but if the people he cares about are at risk he’ll do it.

Odysseus’s crew was not a gaggle of idiots, so stop acting like they were.

Yeah an actual rant since my last talk post was just me…. Screaming…. I don’t regret it but I wanted to give an actual rant. I’ve made a crew defense post like this before but this ones a lot longer and a bit more thorough. Its (kinda) a repost from a rant I made on tiktok except for some slight tweaks because I forgot some things and I can be MUCH more unfiltered on Tumblr.

I’ve seen so much of Odysseus “gentle parenting “ the crew and sure I can see how it would be funny but the people who think he was “gentle parenting” the crew as if they were children get on all of my nerves. Im gonna try to keep this not so focused not just on Eurylochus but on the crew as a whole. Eurylochus is not some child and neither is the crew. Im not saying the crew was always right but im also not saying that Odysseus carried.

This fandom kisses Ody’s ass and gives him credit for EVERYTHING. Yes, as a general it is extremely impressive to go to war with 600 men and have not one single death. Its amazing. But why are we discrediting the crew and giving all credit to Odysseus?

Breaking news; the crew weren’t just objects or mindless drones. They were people. Do you know how hard it is to sync up with 599 other people? THAT is impressive. If you struggle to work with 4 of your classmates in a group project imagine that times 150.

Thunder saga is where ya irritate me the most cause oh my GOD.

No. The crew was not in the wrong for rebelling. The captain, who in case you forgot is tasked to keep them alive, traded friends like objects he could use (verbatim to what Odysseus said himself btw) and had ZERO defense. Spoiler alert; you can’t really do that as captain.

What did you expect the crew after Scylla? Dance? Let Odysseus kill Eurylochus? NO‼️ They are going to do what THEY think is best because thats literally the entire point of the damn musical. Everyone doing what THEY think is best. Perimedes says it himself: “How are we supposed to trust you now?” Again, they aren’t mindless drones. They’re people. People with families and thoughts and emotions. Not robots created to glaze Odysseus and follow him blindly like the fandom does.

Would you trust the guy who is ready to sacrifice you if he has to? Because I know I wouldn’t. Im not saying it was particularly easy for Odysseus to give up six friends but looking from the crew’s perspective, they see a man ready to backstab them to get to HIS family.

Why are we getting on Eurylochus when he looks to Odysseus after the cow— but when Odysseus suddenly goes “my brothers… why?” As if he didn’t just catch six bodies and tried to catch a seventh he gets a free pass? What?

Also for the love of all that is holy can we stop calling them big backs?

Saying it as a joke is whatever but if you genuinely think that I might have an aneurysm.

“The crew were such big backs” while you lay in bed with a full stomach is crazy work.

They were starving. They’re dying. Its not fun and you grow hopeless and desperate. In an interview with Armando (Eury’s voice actor) he literally confirms that the crew had given up hope in thunder saga. Its LITERALLY canon. Though you wouldn’t even need him confirming it if you just listened to Eury in the damn song.

Its already being spoon fed. You just won’t open your mouth.

Putting it into perspective: 550 men have been lost, the captain just sacrificed six more, you are traumatized from the event considering how brutal it was the ship is still covered in red, the captain tried to kill another for calling him out, there is no food, you’re starving and/or suffering from scurvy, you’re STILL being chased by Poseidon (tbh I woulda given up after that), and home is lord knows how far away. You expect them to start cheering and shaking ass???

The crew was traumatized, suffering, and out of it when they ended up on Helios’s island and probably tuned out what Odysseus was saying until they saw the clouds and Odysseus breaking free. When Odysseus shuts down its okay but when the crew does its a problem? Idgaf they had every right to kill the cow. One zap is a thousand times better than prolonged suffering.

“Yeah but Odysseus hadn’t given up, why did they?” Well gee Susan, it’s almost like people are different. The crew gave up because they didn’t completely abandon their humanity like Odysseus was forced to.

“Well they opened the wind bag! That wasn’t fate!” Oh my good golly yall do not shut the hell up about that damn wind bag💔💔💔

Im not saying it was a great decision. It wasn’t. You could even argue it was a bad one. But it was fate that the wind bag would be opened. Use your peanut brain for five seconds.

BOTH times that Poseidon comes, Odysseus opens the wind bag to either escape or to fight. So if they blinded with Poseidon’s son, which is what angers him in the first place (NOT THE WIND BAG you dumb fucks💔) + Odysseus doxxed himself + they have a bag containing Poseidon’s storm, what does that equal?
