You like podcasts? You like D&D? Well, I have some good news. In a couple of months, by the end of the year, me and a group of other young LGBT, neurodivergent creators will be releasing an actual play D&D podcast called Mischief and Magic. Our first campaign is called What Remains, and is set in a post apocalyptic world known as Aegis in which magic, once beloved, has become an illegal, deadly power.
What Remains follows a group of bright eyed adventurers based around a haven (city is a bad word) called Muldoon. The party consists of: Kleio, a half elf amnesiac druid who dealt with a demon to allow their pet fox to live forever, Calixte, a tiefling rogue on the search for his long lost mother, Orion, Calixte’s “cousin” and fellow tiefling who uses magic recklessly through his music, Chi, a half orc chaos sorcerer riddled with insecurity and fear of himself, and Chickadee, a gnomish war cleric with immense passion for life.
Sound interesting? If you want to keep updated before the podcast comes out, you can follow us here on Tumblr, or on our Instagram. Or, you can DM us your email and you’ll be added to our mailing list.
If you’re not totally sold just yet, our podcast also includes:
A bisexual woman as the dungeon master, who tries her best and succeeds to create diverse characters, interesting plots and an immensely interesting and entertaining world.
Five LGBT players and characters. Out of the characters, Chickadee is a lesbian, Calixte is gay, Orion is bisexual, Chi is gay and trans, and Kleio is bisexual and nonbinary.
Two players of color, and while we know it really isn’t a lot, the D&D world definitely needs more representation for people of color. Not to mention, some cultures of Aegis are based around the players own cultures. Elven culture is inspired by Mexican/Welsh culture, and orcish culture is inspired by Vietnamese culture, with the characters of Chi and Orion purposely POC coded.
Neurodivergency all around. We felt inspired by @sleepyspoonie‘s D&D disability mechanics post to use it, or alter it to the functions of our own disabilities, in game. Chi is using mechanics for ADHD, Calixte is using mechanics for bipolar disorder, and Kleio is using mechanics for autism, ADHD, anxiety and dyscalculia.
We could use all the support we can get, so if you don’t feel like this podcast is something for you, tell those you know about it and/or reblog this post! And again, to be updated on when and how you can find the first episode of Mischief and Magic: What Remains, follow us or contact us and you’ll be seeing more of us soon!
