Porsche dragged Kinn out to Ayutthaya to enjoy the water fight for the first time ever. The bodyguards are panicking about it, Kinn got super competitive about it at first before Chay simply dumped a bucket over his head, and Tankhun somehow wound up on an elephant.

color studies 17 April 2024 — apo nattawin (pop edition)

wanted to play around with various styles and apo's skintone because i struggle with color and color pallettes on a good day but add in skin tones, and i feel like i'm going bonkers.

i especially love playing with unusual backgrounds and line art, so that was what i explored here. making an outlandish color choice in the hair or line art and then working to balance that choice into something cohesive.

obviously inspired by andy warhol's pop art, the watermelon colored apo was directly based on one of his marilyn monroe prints.

in the spirit of my challenge to myself, i have included my warm-ups. every time i begin drawing, every day, i start rough. nothing comes out right, and i usually delete these first few sketches.

but a lot of people don't know about warming up when crafting or making art, and i myself get discouraged when the first few attempts feel stiff and ugly.

when I warm up, i sometimes i just start in on what i want to draw (and often regret it) and other times i doodle something silly like a man holding a dragon instead of a cat. the goal is to relax and let the lines flow a bit.

anyway! enjoy my firstborn sketches. i hope they make you laugh or feel more confident in your own abilities.

the dragon is a silly little gift for my favorite overgrown lizard ♡

i failed at avoiding erasing this time. these were a bit frustrating and rushed before work. spent around 10 minutes per sketch not including the handful of failed attempts, and then wasted an hour being indecisive on coloring 🥲
