Finally! This project has been months in the making. Here is the complete collection of Disney characters for my Floral headshot series.
I cannot thank all the people that came together for this. Please show them some love. Comment, like the images, like their pages, and/or share their work.
In before "You are missing so-and-so." We probably did have the character scheduled but we had drop-outs due to illness and other issues.

Don't you listen to this Tumblr bully, Dawn. It's obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that you didn't brown face. I like Tumblr, but keep in mind this is the same place that likes to complain about me cosplaying Jasmine because I'm white, even though I am literally middle eastern and a citizen of a middle eastern country. I guess I should hop on a camel and strap a bomb on my chest in order to fit their racist stereotype or something, huh. Not sure why they are under the impression we all need super dark skin. Also not understanding the role that lighting and flash or lack thereof go into how skin can come off in pictures.
You do realize that by using makeup to darken your skin tone for your Ana cosplay, that it was basically brownface, right? That's not really an ok thing to do... another race isn't just a costume you can put on or take off at will. It's not right to pretend to be someone of a different race when you're white when you don't have to live their lives or suffer the same hardships as them. It's ok if you didn't know, but it's something to watch out for in the future.
But… I didn’t?
I used my usual foundation and just put lines around my mouth to make me look older.
This is it without any editing or anything at all. I’m not sure if he did anything different to my skin tone but this is what I was without any editing.

I never darken my skin for anything. I’ve cosplayed as Dorian from Dragon Age and used the same foundation. It probably looks darker due to the editing of the picture as well as lighting as it was darker outside when that picture was shot, but I honestly did not darken my face. I’m as pale as a dang darn ghost. I’m not going to ever do that. I understand wanting to warn people or inform them, but I will never ever do such a thing.
Here’s an example of my Dorian Pavus with the same foundation.

The most I do for my makeup is add shadow to my cheeks and chin but that’s about it. I never do anything dark or anything. I’m as pale as a ghost and I accept that.
I say again, this is the same foundation I use regularly, I love Ana as a character as well as Dorian Pavus, I would and never will ever change my skin tone for cosplay. It is unneeded and pointless. I cosplay the character because I love them, not for accuracy.
The one thing I remember reading when there was a discussion for this topic years ago when a man said this; “It’s offensive to us when you’re able to wash it off but we can’t.” And I learned never ever do even consider it. So I don’t. I just use my own foundation that is as close my tone as I can and just add shadow to my cheeks. That’s all I do. I’m sorry it was taken in such a way but understand that is not at all what Intended to do.

Reblogging for my edits.

Some of my favorite shots of my Hannah Alexander Artwork-inspired Princess Jasmine. Costume was made by me. The majority of the fabric is silk chiffon that was hand-dyed, except for the part tied around the waist which is cotton that I hand-dyed.
See more of my costume work at JessoLaurus Rex.
Photography by Anne Barhyte - Photographer of Life, WeNeals Photography and Retouching, tofuSnow Photography, and David DJTAAAM Ngo. Edit: I am adding this disclaimer as I have had a few too many complaints that I am not the right ethnicity. I am a Lebanese-American. I have Lebanese citizenship. I am middle eastern, which is what Princess Jasmine is. I am not sure why I am getting so many complaints about my skin. I am a lighter olive skin tone but lighting can make me look even lighter and that is often the case with photography, but us middle eastern ladies come in many shades. When I cosplay as white-skinned characters, I am told I am too dark so it seems like I cannot win no matter what I cosplay as. You cannot always tell someone’s ethnicity by looking at them. I’m honestly quite bummed that I spent so much time making this costume and people want to complain about my skin color. For the record, I have no issue if someone of any color wants to cosplay as Jasmine. I think it is neat that someone would appreciate my culture and/or aspects of my culture. Also, this is cosplay. We dress as what we love. Someone’s natural skin color should never be mentioned as a downside to a costume. No one should have to present their ethnic background as a defense to their cosplay.

@stylishanachronism I am Lebanese. I actually have dual citizenship. This is not the first comment I have gotten about my ethnicity being incorrect, but I am middle eastern.
