H-hello
Wow. Uh. Dead. I'm not dead.
First post in looong time, lost-about-a-hundred-followers long time. I'm not sure if you can say that I'm back completely. But I'm definitely alive, so you can message me and whatnot.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be going because I can't feel my knees.
(I'm on facebitch if you need me)

Portal device? Artemis refrained from asking what it was, opting to march through the doors and into the next chamber. There on a pedestal sat a strange white thing. It looked vaguely like a gun, albeit more scifi—like some kind of Star Wars geek had designed it. Given the fact that this was a huge science-based facility and was therefore likely completely full of science-based geeks, there had to be more than a few who would have happily made everything they designed look like it had stepped off of a movie set.
Artemis picked it up gingerly, hefting it in her hands to get the feel of its weight before sliding her hand into it. The woman hoisted it up, turning it and looking at it from different angles as she debated firing a few test shots before getting into the lift. One look at the red dot on the camera and she decided against it. She wanted to get out of here. It was too... hospital-y.
Grudgingly the woman stepped into the lift, pivoting to face the door as it carried her to what she assumed would be the next test. Strange... She couldn't tell if it was taking her up or down. The woman decided then and there she didn't care for the lifts. Heaving a sigh, she looked at the device again, wondering what it did. Trying to fire it in the elevator would probably be a mistake. She doubted it would harm her, or even fire something that was completely destructive, else they would have called it portal gun. Of course, they could have stuck with "device" in an attempt to downplay the severity of the damage it created. In which case, Artemis would definitely want to be taking this with her...
Fools started following.
Caroline watched the test subject in all of her isolated glory, the clipboard in hand being carefully juggled where needed in order to write several things down upon observation, keeping an eye on the way she moved and how she responded to different things. It was surprising that she got it so easily and on the first try even. But that only went as far as to show her caution when regarding things she was unfamiliar with. The fact that she stopped in what she had been doing with the redirection cube to double check the laser was impressive. Unfortunately it didn’t burn her..that was a shame. Caroline had been rather hopeful that something of that nature would have occurred. But no.. She merely checked it with her cloth. There had been subjects before who had stuck their hand straight into it—and one can imagine their reactions when the hand was burned in half. That was troublesome though..very tedious. The subjects had to be repaired and re-examined for ability to test after that, what with several federal regulations and all.
When the laser finally did hit the spot it was meant for, the according line of blue that led to the door-which had the wonderful demonstration of someone running through it on it-there was a small noise that signified that the door was unlocked and the blue ‘x’ turned into a yellow check mark. Now was the time to speak—before they reached the next testing chamber. The rules set kept them from speaking while the subject tested, but maybe she would enjoy some form of external contact before she was forced into the next test. It would be a simply one involving the portal device that was promptly raised in the elevator room down the catwalk from the current chamber for her to grab. These tests were usually impossible to solve without one.
The speaker system was activated so that Caroline could give Artemis further instructions in her oddly calm and a little too friendly a voice. “Congratulations on completing the first test. You did very well. Please proceed to the next room to grab your very own handheld portal device and step into the elevator to continue testing. Further instruction will be given one you have entered the next test chamber.” Speakers off. The portal device only contained the software to create a blue portal where the test builders had set a pattern to create a orange one to match it. Of course, Artemis wouldn’t be told how to solve the next test, but it would hardly be a brain teaser.

Keeping her gun drawn, Artemis slowly stepped around the door. Stealth was pretty much useless, and the woman was battling the steady voice at the back of her head that was calling her things like insane and paranoid.
As the door swung wide, Artemis surveyed the room, taking in the gaping hole in the floor. She stared down into it, shifting the pistol in her hands.
The woman picked up the humming where she left off, seeming to know of the company in the house but not care. Between the “guest” and the woman in the rocker, stood a large gaping hole busted through the floorboards.
"Who’s there?" Her voice rang from the quiet of the house, her voice tired but still sounding warm.

"That's a strange thing to hear. I'm not much of a socialite." Her eyes flicked over the other and Artemis arched a brow. "I'm sure you're someone. Everyone tends to be someone of consequence."

"Yes, I’m quite sure." Ana nodded with a gentle smile. "That isn’t surprising. I’m no one of consequence." She replied, still smiling, "I couldn’t say, your name is simply familiar."

"You’ve lost control."
"Do you like the person you’ve become?"
"I won’t show my face here anymore."
"In my mind it’s like you haunt them."
"You said you always had my back."
"These little things define you forever."
"We sure as hell have nothing now."
"Do you understand that we will never be the same again?"
"You have always worn your flaws upon your sleeve."
"Let’s finish what we’ve started."
"How am I gonna be an optimist about this?"
"Where do we begin?"
"Can you feel it?"
"They tried to kill my brothers."
"You always take it further than I ever can."
"How am I gonna get myself back home?"
"Look who’s digging their own grave."
"It scares me half to death."
"I feel overjoyed."
"What is there to gain?"

"Yeah, I'll tell that to my bitch of a teacher who looks for any reason to give me detention." The girl shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Not much point in even going to class now... Who're you?" She looked him over finally, realising she hadn't seen him in the halls before. Not that it was saying much, Artemis had a tendency to ignore almost everyone here.
"Hey, I’m sorry." Clint huffed, handing the girl the stuff that he had picked up. "It’s not like I meant to knock all your stuff over." He pulled his backpack up, looking down. He was smaller then who he had bumped into, but he was smaller then everyone. He still hadn’t quite hit his growth spurt, and Barney once told me that he never would.
