Realistically, I want Kix to hate Anakin Skywalker, and never forgive him. It’s canon that the whole galaxy found out he was Darth Vader.
Because it means that the inhibitor chip, the thing Tup and Fives died over, that Kix lost everything trying to stop? Anakin, who saw firsthand how it rendered his beloved soldiers into empty shells, forced them to betray comrades they cared deeply for? He knowingly went along with it.
He was there for the Tup incident! He saw what happened! When Palpatine reveals Order 66 and tells Anakin to help carry it out on the Jedi temple with his very own 501st Legion, he realizes that his men are being brainwashed, rendered soulless, by the thing Tup and Fives and Kix fought to stop. He renders those sacrifices for nothing, he helps the clones commit things they are helpless to perform, that would horrify them.
But at least they had no agency in the act. “General Skywalker” did, and finding out that he went along with it all, that he helped enforce it, that he truly made slaves of Kix’s brothers after having the audacity to lament how he was a slave himself. Kix would spit on the good general’s name. I want him to meet Rey and find out she can commune with force ghosts, that one of them is his beloved general.
And I want Kix to tell Rey to relay a message for him; That he can no longer respect a force that will let a scum rat betray and murder countless, just so he can live and go on to become the hero who saved the galaxy as the chosen one he was always meant to be! While Anakin has his perfect afterlife, just know that all of Kix’s brothers, and hell even Anakin’s beloved wife, burn in hell because of him.

A Simplified Timeline of All My Bad Batch Fics
ICYMI: All my Bad Batch fics are set in the same continuity. So, to help myself keep track of when they all take place relative to the show and each other, I've made the following timeline:
I have a more complicated version of this, breaking down where all the chapters take place relative to each other, because many of them are out of order or take place concurrently with chapters from other fics.
However, this is the streamlined version!!
For the post-finale fics, I'm basically going off when the main events of the story take place. I'm not counting the setup chapters, flashbacks or epilogues. I'm basically going off what I wrote in the fic summaries.
I also put when they would take place on the IRL calendar, if we assume the events of the TBB series finale took place on May 1, 2024 -- the date it aired.
BEFORE THE SHOW
Hunter & Crosshair: "Where There is Light, There is Always Hope" | Set during the war, before Echo joins Clone Force 99
DURING THE SHOW
On Tantiss After "Plan 99" | Set between the events of 2.16 "Plan 99" and 3.01 "Confined"
Between "A Different Approach" and "The Return" *** | Set between the events of 3.04 "A Different Approach" and 3.05 "The Return"
Just Beyond "Point of No Return" | Set between the events of 3.11 "Point of No Return" and 3.12 "Juggernaut"
AFTER THE SHOW
(Assume the events of the series finale took place May 1, 2024)
Three Weeks After the Finale... | May 22, 2024
Crosshair & Omega: Always on the Same Team | July through August 2024
The Bad Batch Chooses a Family Name | September 2024
Crosshair vs. Cad Bane: The Sharpshooter Showdown | Early October 2024
Crosshair Accepts a (Helping) Hand | Mid-November 2024
Crosshair's New Teammates*** | Mid-November 2024
Celebrating Life Day on Pabu | Jan. 1, 2025
Omega & the Naboo Scarf*** | Late March through May 1, 2025
TBA!! | August 2025
*** denotes fic in progress as of June 25, 2025
This timeline is subject to updates.

A note, because not everyone knows this: if you're driving and another driver flashes their brights at you, this is a signal to be on alert and slow down. There may be debris in the road, a cop out of sight, or an animal crossing ahead of you. (Or, alternatively, your brights are on and they're getting blinded.) Whatever the reason, it's a signal that you need to focus and reduce speed. And possibly turn your own brights off.
This PSA has been brought to you by the four fawns that ran out in front of me at various points on my drive home.

the long awaited valka defense post
i feel like i’ve been making a bunch of small posts and reblogs defending valka so i think it’s time to just combine it all into one big rant, so here we go.
first, we need to stop acting like hiccup and valka are the same person.
the fact that hiccup is so similar and yet so different from valka is really important. a lot of people overlook that and act like he’s exactly like her and the exact opposite of stoick when it’s much more complex than that.
people blame valka for leaving but if you think about it you see that even if she stayed she would not have been able to do what hiccup did. she didn’t create peace with the dragons, she became one of them. she didn’t even believe hiccup when he told her that berk had changed because she didn’t think people could change, which actually was valid because hiccup almost left too for the same reason. astrid was the one who showed him that it was possible for people to change (see this post). valka thought that her and hiccup were just born different and that normal people just wouldn’t understand. and she’s right about that to an extent, she and hiccup are special and there isn’t anyone else that we know of that can quite understand their bond with the dragons or would’ve ever come to that realization on their own, but she’s very extreme about it. she still thought that there were clear sides to this war, and she chose the dragons’ side. hiccup was the only one who thought that humans and dragons really could coexist. he’s the bridge. he has traits from both of his parents that make him the only one who would’ve ever been able to pull that off, because valka said it herself, he has the heart of a chief and the soul of a dragon.
second, if she had come back, there was still nothing she could’ve done.
if she had come back with cloudjumper, they only would’ve treated her like they treated hiccup after his first attempt to show them how dragons really are, which would be to take her dragon away and see her as nothing but a traitor. let me remind you that the only person they saw, before her and hiccup, try to “train” a dragon was drago, and we all know how that ended. she only would’ve been leading cloudjumper to his death. she had already been trying to stop the fighting, and even stoick never listened to her, so what makes yall think her coming back would’ve made any difference?
what would she even have said? “oh hi stoick, remember the dragon that burned our house down almost causing both us and our baby to die and then carried me away to who-knows-where? well he’s actually my best friend now and i brought him back to the village putting all of our people in danger again. anyway please stop killing the dragons when they attack and let them burn our village to the ground. i think that will fix everything.” you’ve got to be joking.
(also he was completely valid for having the view of dragons that he did and not listening to either her or hiccup when they tried to tell him differently, see my stoick defense post).
she didn’t even have a plan to stop the fighting, she didn’t know enough. hiccup didn’t have any plan either until he saw the nest, and even then he didn’t even know what to do about it yet. it wasn’t until he had no other option that he saw that killing the red death was the solution. she didn’t know that the red death was the reason the dragons were attacking, and she never shows any sign of knowing by the time he finds her in httyd 2 either. her only plan was “stop killing them,” and the other berkians were right to think she was crazy for that, because why the heck would that make things better? what were they supposed to say to that? “oh wow, we never thought of that, valka! you’re right, let’s just let them kill us all and steal all of our food. great idea!” give me a break.
third, valka was right to think that her staying would’ve just made things worse for hiccup in the end, because it’s true
let’s pretend she did come back, and just didn’t tell everyone about the dragons. let’s say she pretended she just got lucky and didn’t get eaten this time, and just lived how she would’ve if she hadn’t been taken, because that’s literally what everyone seems to be saying that she should’ve done.
now she’s raising hiccup, not to be a dragon killer, but to be himself. hiccup wanted to kill dragons because he was raised to. he wanted to fit in and gain everyone’s respect. he never actually hated the dragons like everyone else did, he was afraid of them and wanted to kill them both for his own protection and for his reputation’s sake. he could’ve easily just stayed in the forge and let everyone else do the fighting like stoick and gobber wanted him to, we see this at the very beginning of the movie, but he wasn’t okay with that. he wanted to be like everyone else. however, if valka was there to encourage him to be himself and play to his strengths, he wouldn’t have wanted to change himself so much.
could this have caused him to stay out of the fight, untimely preventing him from shooting toothless down? you can be the judge of that, but i believe the answer is yes. i believe that if she was there, he would not have been so passionate about becoming a dragon killer and seeking glory. and if he hadn’t met toothless, then he would’ve never found the nest and stopped the war. so if you think about it, her presence in hiccup’s life would’ve done much more harm than good.
and finally, yall can’t blame her for stoick’s death not having has much of a visible effect on her as everyone else because she had already been mourning their relationship for the past 20 years.
thank you and good night

So, I finally caved and watched the Live Action httyd (by less conventional means) after hearing so many good things about it on the internet.
I did not like it.
But most of all, I absolutely despise what they did with Stoick.

Little rant incoming, spoilers for the LA (and original) ahead:
Now, first of all. No hate to Gerard Butler. He did fantastic as Stoick and I have no complaints there. My gripes are purely with the writing and decisions made here.
They took all the care out of his character. In the original, Stoick was hard and he was not being the best of dads to Hiccup but you could tell he was trying. Most of all, you could tell how much he cared.
In the live action? It is gone. The story is the same and follows the same beats. But in trying to not make it 1-1 with the original, they either made line deliveries awkwardly placed or changed lines slightly to differ, which ruined the character in the end.
Let me bring some examples:
- In the arena, when Hiccup is trying to tame the Monstrous Nightmare, in the original, Stoick runs in when it goes wrong and rips the gate open, calling the kids over to run to safety. To which Astrid does and Hiccup tries before being intercepted. In the LA? He first stands by the gate unable to get through and calls only to Astrid to come back? Now, was he calling to her to help open the gate? Maybe, but that still doesn’t make sense to me why he would call over Astrid and not even mention his son, or call in any of the other vikings to help instead of the one girl in the way of his son and death. What doesn’t help either is Hiccup saying right before ‘if something goes wrong don’t try to help, my dad respects you’. It puts a different meaning and implication to Stoick calling to Astrid in that moment. (Now I do really like what they did in how Stoick kept the gate open in the end, very cool)
- In the final battle, right after Stoick saved both Hiccup and Toothless from the water, in the original, Stoick stops Hiccup from going after the Red Death, grabbing his hand and saying. “I’m sorry. For- For everything.” And the conversation that follows between them after is pivotal and tugs at your heart. It shows how much these two characters care for each other, and how they’re finally expressing it. Especially after the blowout they had before. In the LA? Stoick also stops Hiccup, but instead, he says “I was only trying to protect you.” The rest of the scene follows roughly the same with some omitted dialogue and dialogue changes. But the fact that Stoick no longer says sorry to his son. The fact that he tries to justify his actions instead of owning up to them? It upset me greatly.
- Lastly, after the battle, when Toothless saved Hiccup and Stoick is searching for him and finds only Toothless without his rider, in the original, Stoick falls to his knees, a silent moment passes where you can see how he grieves. Then, when Toothless opens his eyes, Stoick quietly apologises. Recognising how sincere he is, Toothless opens his wings and shows Hiccup. Stoick grabs Hiccup and exclaims in relief and disbelief “He’s alive, you brought him back alive” to Toothless. With the music swelling and everything, it is a moment that- oh, chef’s kiss, my heart can’t take it. In the LA, Stoick sees him, falls to his knees and says sorry to the air. Because Toothless is not awake. (Then Astrid walks up and comforts him? Which is also a little messed up because that’s not the dynamic they have or are supposed to have). Then when Toothless wakes up the dragon instantly opens his wings, no longer because Stoick apologised. And when Stoick checks Hiccup, he calls out, yells it even. “He’s alive. He’s alive!” To the villagers waiting in the back. It is such a small change. But it changes Stoick as a character so much. It is not internal immense relief, also making him warm up to dragons, it feels more like a show to the village.
Changing all those little moments, no matter how small they seem, it flips Stoick’s character from a dad who is in a rock and a hard place but trying (if not failing) to a man who is chief and has an incompetent son he doesn’t care much for. Their bond and reconciliation doesn’t feel earned or earnest. And in not having the basis for their relationship set up properly, I worry for how the live action movie 2 is going to go if that is gonna be a thing.
In the end, I’m just a fangirl of this franchise who loves the originals so much. And also has daddy issues. So seeing changes like this makes me sad.
If you liked this movie however, I am very glad! So long as more people get introduced to this amazing franchise, I’m happy. I just wanted to give my two cents ^^
Thank you and goodnight

Friendly reminder that most clones didn’t know about the inhibitor chips. It makes Cody’s ”we make our own decisions, our own choices, and we have to live with them too” hit a bit harder.
