i get a lot of joy from the thought of steve doing introductions the way he’s always done, like, “this is my partner, danny” and whoever he’s talking to politely inquires “partner?”, trying to avoid the awkwardness of assuming anything, so steve lifts his hand and taps his wedding ring and goes “we’re cops” like that’s really all there is to say about it, which clears up absolutely nothing at all and in fact adds an entirely new layer of confusion. for a bonus the stranger could be brave and questioningly go “cops?” in hopes of finding a way out of this maze, and right next to steve danny would flash his badge and be like “yes, we’re married.”
