Yes I understand that said is often good enough, but sometimes you WANT to draw attention to how the character is speaking. If you think adding an action/movement to your dialogue is 'good enough' hate to break it to you but that ruins immersion much more than a casual 'mumbled'. And for the last time: this is just a resource list, CALM DOWN. Hope that covers all the annoyingly redundant replies :)

How to write hospital scenes 

From someone who’s definitely been in too many and would very much like a refund...ツ

⊹ Waiting rooms are emotional purgatory. They’re too bright, too quiet, and weirdly timeless. Fluorescent lights buzzing, TVs playing muted news no one watches, coffee that tastes like burnt stress. People aren’t relaxing in there, they’re just existing, awkwardly pretending their phones are interesting while dissociating at 40% battery.

⊹ Everyone talks in a whisper, but not because it’s respectful, no, it just feels wrong to speak normally. Like the walls might be listening, like if you talk too loud, something worse might happen, even the loud people get quiet in hospitals.

⊹ Overnight stays are hell. hospital chairs? medieval torture devices with upholstery. even if someone’s trying to nap next to a patient, they’re not sleeping. They’re half-listening to the symphony of beeping machines, nurse shoes squeaking, the occasional cough, and distant Code Something crackling over the intercom. it’s anxiety with a blanket.

⊹ The smell is unforgettable, like it’s not just antiseptic. it’s plastic and cafeteria meatloaf and sweat and fear and the smell of a place where people are very much not okay. the first time your character walks in, it’ll hit them like a wall. later, they might not even notice, or maybe it’s the only thing they can smell for days after.

⊹ Talking to doctors is a weird performance. You're trying to be calm, they’re trying to be calm. But no one is calm, your character wants to ask 47 questions and not sound desperate. The doctor explains things like they’re narrating a science video, and when they leave, someone will immediately go ���wait... we forgot to ask” every. single. time.

⊹ Monitors beep constantly. half the time, it’s nothing. A wire got loose, someone rolled over. But the second it is something, the vibe shifts fast. Nurses appear like ghosts, machines start going off, and everyone starts moving. And your character? they might freeze, or panic, or forget they have lungs. Go with whatever makes sense for them, but make it visceral.

⊹ Time goes full funhouse mirror. Ten minutes waiting for test results feels like a year. A full hour stretches into eternity, meanwhile, three hours can pass without anyone realizing it. You can use this in your pacing, make it drag when the waiting is unbearable.

⊹ Hospital cafeteria food: Garbage. It’s either offensively bland or stupidly overpriced. The grilled cheese is six dollars and tastes like regret, and someone will 100% cry into a cold sandwich at 3am, because grief doesn’t care where you are.

⊹ People start fixating on tiny, random things. They can’t control the big stuff, so their brain zeroes in on a sock slipping off, a crooked IV pole, the repetitive drip-drip-drip of medication. Let them obsess over something small, it’s how the brain copes with being completely powerless...

What instruments would the f1 drivers play?

HAHAHA this is suuper interesting as a fellow musician, since this is the stuff I think about too LMAOO, inspired by this post

So, without further ado- here's what instruments i think the f1 drivers would play!

Don't mind the fact that i posted this twice hahah tumblr is weird

Max Verstappen

Max for some reason gives me woodwind vibes. There is something about this man that gives woodwind vibes. I think it's the fact that if you look at him(LOOK not talk) he seems normal if introverted until you talk to him and the bam, yeah. He's just as crazy as the rest of us.

He's also probably riffing the bass clarinet solo though you bet.

2. Charles Leclerc

This man would play flute. I don't know why but something about the fact that he constantly looks slightly high gives flute minor vibes ngl. Every flute minor I know looks slightly dead inside and/or high during rehearsals.

He would also ABSOLUTELY play the piccolo as well. Just to kill the violins' ears. There is BEEF

3. Carlos Sainz

Triangle.

4. George Russell

I don't know why but George gives 'works really hard but not the most talented' violinist vibes. Guy probably puts in like 5+ hours a day in practice and his teacher( toto??? would toto be a violin teacher? ngl he actually kinda does lmaoo) is like really proud of him but also concerned that he's going to hurt himself from practicing too much

He definitely has gotten tendonitis before. I can feel it in my SOUL, this man probably practiced too much and pushed himself too hard then got tendonitis. Thank god his friends forced him to rest hahahh

5. Alex Albon

Controversial take but I actually think he gives viola vibes! It's also the fact that this man is like the chillest guy ever as well, like he definitely chills in the viola section with his 3 notes per piece and does not give a fuck lmaooo

Definitely not because I want him to play in a quartet with George. These two definitely met and played in a quartet and became inseparable since lmaoooo

man the viola solo at the beginning of the 'murican is sooo good

6. Lando Norris

Euphonium. The most dyslexic instrument. All eupho players I have met have the EXACT SAME feral energy as this man help

He has definitely fell asleep at the back and got called out for it I can smell it

7. Oscar Piastri

This man is DEFINITELY a trumpet major.

8. Lewis Hamilton

Clarinet/Sax. I can just imagine him jammin along on clarinet/sax improvving the hell out of the melody in his band, and then heading over to rehearsal and killing the clarinet solo in danzon hahahah He'd definitely be beefing with max to get the 1st clarinet chair kmaoo

he also definitely knows how to play jazz piano after nico left...

9. Daniel Ricciardo

Harmonica major, trobmone minor.

HJOKES dude is the chillest and coolest dude ever in orchestra and like probably also carries the brass section(not my bias creeping in lmaooo). Will definitely help anyone with literlally anything. Need help with an orchestral exerpt? Dan's ya man! Need a hand with a solo? Dan's ya man! Need someone to cover for you at a gig? Might not be the man then, but Dan will Try!

I can just imagine him brassin' with Yuki or waking up Lando before he starts drooling(or leaving him to sleep and drawing mustaches lmaoo), starting beef between carlos and oscar(triple f triangle rolls in your ear anyone?) or doing shots with checo while tacet for the next 13 years during a CONCERT.

This man is wild. Brass is wild, period.

10. Yuki Tsunoda

Tuba :D

There is something innately hilarious about small people playing massive instruments! And Yuki has has enough chaotic energy for it lmaooo

11. Zhou Guanyu

Piano. Yes, basic, but he has the same kind of vibes as this one really nice accompanist that I've worked with. Bruv they even have the SAME HAIR?

He'd be such a nice accompanist though, like the kind that guides you through how to rehearse, and working with a pianist for the first time and calming you down before an exam though. Would definitely be booked out for weeks at a time though, since literally EVERYONE would want to work with him

12. Fernando Alonso

Kind of a random take but I feel like fernando just gives the same menacing vibes as the bassoon solos that I've encountered so far(shosta 1, sibelius 2, rite of spring). Especially the bassoon soli in Sibelius 2, that's scary AF when played righ lmaooo

That and he has just enough manic energy for it istg all the bassoonists i know just have that innate chaos honestly.

14. Valterri Bottas

Percussionist. Imagine this guy on bass drum? or timp? or cymbals help-

15. Lance Stroll

I've read a really good fic where he was a clarinettist, and yes it does fit really well but also at this same time I get flautist/violinist vibes? Like he'd be a singing major but take clarinet/violin as a minor idk that's just the vibes from him.

16. Sergio Perez

Checo has the confusion of a 3rd horn player. Dude has all the passion for music and passion for everything but everything he does just adds to the slightly confused (bear with me here) aura that he just carries around? Like the vibes of the 'What do you mean 3rd horn enters here, ey? nothing on my part, no? Ah, I was reading 4th, sorry!' kind of energy.

17. Logan Sargeant

This man definitely played in a marching band when he was younger i GUARANTEE IT. Brass definitely, probably second trumpet and somehow manages to split his notes every time in the concert. Don't know how, but he does. 

18. Pierre Gasly(& 19. Esteban)

At risk of being mobbed but I honestly think he'd play viola or something obscure like alto flute or cor anglais. 

Screw that, he'd definitely play cor anglais after switching from oboe to escape Esteban and then end up next to him anyways cause cor and oboe sit next to each other hahahahah

Hey, a section that hates each other is a good section! Cause both would play perfectly to spite the other lmaoo

Get ready cuz this is a LONG post. I also mostly stuck to the 2024 grid cuz I couldn't be bothered with much more

also please note that I wrote this whilst exhausted and avoiding practicing so if it has any spelling/grammar mistakes, you didn't see anything

1. Max Verstappen: percussion

ok so max is to me a percussionist through and through but also seems like the type of percussionist who learnt how to play the violin as a kid and hated it, so became a drummer instead. definitely plays the marimba like his life depends on it. also becuase I have a thing for them so ye 🥰 (I do however love a good fanfic where he's like a super competitive violin/piano player even if I can't really see him play them)

2. Charles Leclerc: piano

so he obviously already plays piano which suits him sm so I'm going to keep that because he has the correct vibes and everything for piano, but more on the late classical onwards stuff than the earlier music (I NEED to hear him play Debussy like omfg please)

3. Carlos Sainz: conductor

ok here me out but I can't see him playing in an orchestra BUT he would definitely conduct, and could probably play a string instrument/piano quite well but like it wouldn't be his passion if you get what I mean (I also feel like he'd be quite strict as a conductor but get super good performances out of the orchestra)

4. Daniel Riccardo: trombone (+bass trombone)

ok he's the reason I'm making this list because OMFG THIS MAN IS A BRASS PLAYER like defo lower brass too but I can't really see tuba player from him so trombone. he's also the kind of brass player to be stupidly good at percussion too so ye that too. also get this man in a big band. please.

5. Lando Norris: violin

ok so lando is always giving main character energy and like there's not much more main character than a violin, and also I can very much see him being a more romantic/lyrical player (he just has them vibes idk). HOWEVER broski has a MASSIVE hand span so he has to play piano cuz he can deffo reach them 10ths let's be real

6. Oscar Piastri: oboe (+french horn)

ok HEAR ME OUT!!!! tell me you can't see this guy play an oboe. I think he has the right sized face for it idk that sounds strange but I can see it please believe me 😭😭. Also french horn cuz it's my fave instrument except my own and I think he'd serve playing it idk

7. Lewis Hamilton: cello

I'm biased. he has the vibes. (not really but idc). also probably sings (he already does but shh). Definitely not a baroque player and probably plays more Dvorak era stuff (the things I'd do to see him play Brahms E minor) but this is all because I am spectacularly biased and want to see my fave drivers play my instrument. also producer vibes but that's unrelated.

8. George Russell: flute

ok so personally most male flute players I know are complete dickheads BUT I think George is the exception like he just seems quite flutey (also he kinda gives classical era piano player but that may be me being silly) but bro definitely doesn't like syncopated rhythms like let's be real if it's off the beat my guy would be completely lost. he does seem like the type to be able to read ledger lines tho

9. Yuki Tsunoda: percussion

I think he's another percussionist tbh but more cymbals and timps than tuned percussion. I don't have much more to say about Yuki because he's just cymbals in my head lmao

right. he gives wind because he's french BUT he probably is euf cuz like I can very much picture him playing it and also I can very much see him giggling at the back of a brass band or some shit with Yuki (yukierre nation what's good) so I've put him as a euf cuz why not

11. Esteban Ocon: clarinet

another biased opinion but I can see it like he just is a clarient I think. I think it's probs just the fact he's tall but like the stereotype of people looking like their instruments is real so he (he does give cellist a bit too but that may also just be because he's tall)

right this was a very tough one BUT he holds all the chaos and menace of a trumpet player (especially when he was younger), and I think it suits him quite well. he does give lower brass a bit but I think he has more trumpet vibes than lower brass so ye

13. Lance Stroll: clarinet

ok rich boi obviously would have been taught the violin and I think he'd be pretty good at it tbh BUT he gives clarient vibes so fucking hard like especially bass clarinet, cuz he's different like that

14. Nico Hulkeberg and Kevin Magnussen: trumpet

right. these two are together for a reason. these two are the two trumpet players in an orchestra who sit there yapping for half the rehearsal, play the 4 bars they have in a piece and then are done for the day. don't say you can't see it. you can.

15. Alex Albon: guitar

this one is quite specific but he gives like classical and jazz guitar vibes in a very specific way. also woodwind. idk he contains multitudes and I think we should celebrate that. maybe flute? I can see that. (I'm losing the plot here wtf even is an instrument)

PLEASE DONT COME FOR ME I SAY THIS IN A GOOD WAY!!! he really has strings vibes to me but definitely is not violinist at all, therefore I think he'd be a good viola player. HOWEVER as he is American I will say get this man on the cheer squad and like idk have him throw people in the air while the marching band does it's thing I can see him doing that

this is going to sound weird af but don't take it that way but holy shit this guy's fingers are LONG like I think he could probs do a 9th or 10th easily (I'm so jealous) and I feel like he has piano vibes. also a bit stringy but also not idk I feel like he'd own a harp but not play it often so ye

20. Franco Colapinto: violin (?)

idk him that well and he has very similar vibes to lando (this may be due to the edits I have CONSUMED over the last few months) so ye I think he could be violin, maybe like leader of the 2nds kinda thing for the fun of it

21. Liam Lawson: guitar and drum kit

ok. this is a copout cuz he already does and posts things of him playing but like he just is guitar like that is what he is in my mind. also he gives the vibe of that one guitarist who decided to learn drums but hasn't got the coordination quite right yet so isn't great at keeping time but thinks he's great anyways (I love him really)

Finally! I should never start such big projects for my daily challenge ever again. But man it was fun anyway. I love doing bigger stuff from time to time.
