f1 is a fake ass fanfiction sport. most of them grew up racing against each other. the majority of them live in the same incredibly tiny country. the drivers involved in one of the most famous rivalries in the sport live in the same apartment building in said tiny country. they all play other sports together when not doing their main sport together. they see each other at the grocery store. they all make millions. like what on earth.

Believe it or not, the issue with the fake Mick Doohan post is not the formulafakers account, the issue is the massive drop in journalistic standards of mainstream news outlets, and the lazy over reliance by supposedly professional journalists to source news content from social media these days.

No, the parody account probably shouldn't have posted it, but it's absolutely crazy that an account that identifies itself as fake in its name is being held to a higher standard than the mainstream sports outlets that amplified their post without doing the slightest bit of due diligence.

Fox News Argentina, ESPN Argentina, TNT Sports.... all professional sports broadcasters, ALL spread false information under the guise of credibility and that is by far the more egregious error which absolutely opened up the Doohan family for abuse. There's also evidence of these outlets misreporting the Yuki incident too which again has contributed to the problem that's arisen.

This is a combination of lazy reporting and an over-reliance on AI in journalism. News media wants clicks and they get it by making people angry, but they still have a responsibility to check and verify what they're posting and clearly that's not happening in the rush to be "first" to report on these things. They broadcast misinformation on their TV channels, but only correct the record via Instagram post and that's not being held fully to account. This isn't the first time it's happened and unless things change it won't be the last.

the issue is not a meme twitter account, it’s the media outlets & fans who ran with a clearly joking post and weaponized it to personally attack a driver’s family, which is absolutely disgusting. there is no way a meme account on twitter that posts shit like “alex albon’s cats have unionized,” and “oscar piastri has turned into pizza and thus cannot race,” is somehow being deemed evil and terrible

if you’re not doing enough due diligence to check the literal username of a twitter account you’re getting your news from & immediately resorting to death threats, that’s on you & the news outlets pushing the story— not a random meme account

formulafakers is quite literally an account that parodies the stupidity of f1 news & journalism, because that is the issue, not a dude who makes jokes on the internet sometimes.

did the post cross a line? sure, maybe (and it’s valid to think that, if you do), but does that mean that the blame solely rests on that account, instead of the crazy fans & irresponsible news outlets? no, no it does not

i’m gonna be honest, i didn’t think it was going to be so easy finding everything they were saying since i don’t really interact with carlos content, but oh my days

basically his fans are calling sabotage which…okay, and saying williams is stinky (which fair ill give them that) and saying that alex shamelessly took logan’s car last year and i need them to go back and read the articles about the situation—also!! alex was hoping to score points to give back to logan as a thank you and to make sure it wasn’t in vain—which you can see here
