Hero, after fighting and stealthing their way through the villain's lair, finally get to their captured friend.

Whumpee, flinches at the sound of the door opening.

Hero: hey, don't worry, I'm here to get you out, everything is going to be okay.

Whumpee, shies away from the noise.

Hero, determined to help their light hearted friend: it's me. C'mon, what are you blind?

Hero gets a little closer to the trembling friend: are you...blind?

Hero sees the sagging eyelids. Whumpee still hasn't spoken. Hero's voice lowers, growling with a sudden, angry heat toward the villain: are you blind??

Demon: and don't worry about Honey. Of course she'll be here. ALL dogs go to heaven. Even hellhounds.

An old and homely grandmother accidentally summons a demon. She mistakes him for her gothic-phase teenage grandson and takes care of him. The demon decides to stay at his new home.

"I am Victor Dandelion! Dead, because the nobles would rather have a ready pawn than an asset to this kingdom! Dead, because those in power would rather see a farce that meets their own goals than truth that proves their plans are flawed! Dead...because I was not allowed to simply exist for existence sake."

A breath. Let them think it's simply a dramatic pause. Don't let them see the whites of my knuckles, the shake to my whiskers. I'm back from the dead, healthy and whole, not on the razor's edge of blacking out.

"This tournament stands as structure without support! A fancy vest that will rip away with the slightest movement! It provides no benefit, no substance to existence! A hollow loaf of bread."

I look to those who support me. I don't have many more words in me. Better make the strength count before it's gone.

"I am Victor Dandelion. I defy my death! I live to prove that things can change! I live prove that strength can be found to help the kingdom as a whole, and not just those with deep pockets and long titles! I live to prove that we are stronger when we are not fighting with our hands tied behind our backs! I am--"

A choke. A sob. Then a redoubling of my volume, a last shout to urge action upon the people listening. "I am Maribel Thistledown! And I am a Victor!"

So I'm just dreaming of future books I'm going to write. Like about this one series I found on a post... Gonna have to dig it up or something. Anyway, it's about cats and finding healing from PTSD trauma, but for middle schoolers. Or younger. I'm listening to the warrior cat series, to get some mood inspiration.

And just... Hoping. Dreaming that maybe, somewhere, somehow, my future words will make a difference. Help someone find peace and healing. I'd like that.
